Advantages Compact, quick and reads 54 types of memory cards
Disadvantages n/a
So, there I was with one of those digital camera problems, plug the camera into the PC download the pictures to my hard drive, Oh the batteries have run out after x amount of pictures transferred.
So I checked out the net for a card reader that would take XD type memory cards, now most of the them didn't take the XD format, but then I came across the Mikomi 54 in 1, yes 54 in one, I didn't realise that there were so many memory cards out there. So I reserved my card reader at Argos.co.uk and then popped down to my nearest branch and picked it up, a bargain at £9.99.
The first thing that amazed me when I got home was how small the reader actually is, it is: 6cm square and 1.5cm thick, in the box you get the reader (of course Lol), a USB cable, CD (driver & Instructions) and quick instructions.Ok, so was it easy to install?
Well the simple answer is yes, simply turn on your PC plug it in and then Windows will find the driver and install it, no need for the driver disc unless you are running Windows 98SE or Windows 2000.Using the card reader is so easy to do, just remove your card from your camera and plug it into one of the four slots around the card reader, your PC will then detect the card and you are then able to do whatever you want with it, move files from and to the card with ease.
The reader has two small lights one is red to show that the reader has power from your PC, no need for a separate power supply and a green light which lets you know when the reader is reading from or writing to the inserted card, another useful thing that you can do with the card reader is insert multiple cards and read/write from one another or to and from your PC.So on to the important information that everyone wants to know, what cards does it read, deep breath now:
Compact Flash: CF I / CF I Pro / CF Pro II / CF I Elite Pro / CD I Ultra II / CF I Ultra-X / CF I Extreme / CF I Extreme II / CF I HIGH SPEED / CF I WA / CF I Picture / CFII / Micro Drive (MD) / Magic StorMemory Stick (MS) Series: MS / MS-Pro / MS Pro MG HIGH SPEED / MS Pro MG Extreme / MS Pro MG Extreme III / MS Duo MG HIGH SPEED / MS Duo / MS Pro Duo / MS Pro Duo MG Ultra II / MS Pro Duo MG HIGH SPEED / MS Pro MG Ultra II / MS Magic Gate / MS Pro Mage Gate / MS Duo Magic Gate / MS Pro Duo Magic Gate / MS Memory Function / MS ROM

Mini SDThe SD slot can support Mini SD without using the adaptor.
The card reader is fast, it support USB High-Speed (480Mbps) or Full-speed (12Mbps), I've found that my photos are downloaded to my PC a heck of a lot quicker than using the camera to transfer them. The card reader can be used on the following systems: Windows 98SE/2000/ME/XP and Mac 9.X and above and when using Windows 2000 (SP3/SP4)/ME and XP the reader is Plug and Play so there is no need to install the driver.
Overall I would recommend the Mikomi 54 in 1 card reader to anyone who has a digital camera, it's fast, easy to install and the fact that it is very small it can sit on your desk without been obtrusive, also even if you decide to change your digital camera the card reader will be able to read your new cameras card.
