Advantages: Well-drawn characters. Creative use of words. Disadvantages: A little difficult to adjust to the changing style of writing
...The Book Thief written by Australian author Marcus Zusak was published in Australia in 2005 as an adult novel and in America in 2006 as a children’s novel. It finally came to the UK in 2007 published by Doubleday and Black Swan in both adult and teen-age versions. Though I have to admit, I do not know what the differences between the two versions are! My copy and the one I am reviewing is the adult version.
The novel proved to be a triumphant success greeted by glowing accolades from a wide range of literary reviewers – excerpts of which can be found in the book. The most apt from The Irish Examiner, “A peculiar tale, whose deceptively plain language and cryptic style describe the most profound of human emotions and the most hideous of human actions . . . an unusual and compelling novel”

Advantages: BRILLIANT QUALITY BOOKS! Disadvantages: CAN BE A BIT EXPENSIVE
...Oh how i love the folio society. i love them and yet at the same time, i hate them. Dont get me wrong, i dont hate them because they provide poor quality books and have bad service...no no no. i hate them because i cannot resist thier fantastic books!

Advantages: Beautiful books, good service, super introductory offers. Disadvantages: Expensive books, smallish catalogue with too many books on empire.
...Books rock, do they not? However, book clubs – largely – tend not to rock. They use our laziness and their insidious editor's choices and minimum orders to wring as much money from us as possible. We often end up with a shelf full of books that we do not really want. Bah. Sometimes, book clubs send us "club editions" printed on cheap, nasty paper and with spines that break on the first reading. Bah again. After the introductory offer and by the time we have paid for postage, book club books are not always that cheap, either. Thrice bah.
The Folio Society is not like this.
You may have seen their adverts in the broadsheet weekend supplements. Folio run excellent introductory offers. Otherwise, you will need to look at their website – address at the end – to give them a look-see. The biggest difference between Folio and other book...
