...do was book into the Millennium UN Plaza for a real treat…
For those in the know please don’t get confused, the Millennium UN Plaza used to be simply the UN Plaza, but I suspect that it was changed because of the confusion the similarity to “The Plaza” (y’know, the place where Catherine Zeta Jones married that old chap??!) was causing tourists and taxi-drivers alike!
MEET ME ON THE CORNER...
44th and 1st is a rather enviable address and right ... ...The hotel is called the Millennium UN Plaza because it is a hotel that resides ABOVE the UN buildings. So if you are an avid fan of Kofi Annan and his cohorts than this could be just the fan-base for you in the States! More seriously, if you want to feel SAFE then I guess this is a pretty darned good place to be!
So on first approaching Union Plaza on 44th and 1st you will be amazed – it’s high; it’s very high and is in fact set over floors 28 – ...

Made our stay great! Review ofMillennium UN Plaza Hotel, New York Cityby
blurplespark
Advantages: Handy location, without being in the 'thick of it!' Disadvantages: Expensive food and nibbles!!
Although not the hotels fault, our cab took us to the wrong 'Millenium hotel'!Make sure you state that its the UN Plaza Millenium hotel!!!
On our arrival at the hotel, the very helpful doorman(Who was great through out our stay.)took our bags and escorted us inside, the signing in was hassle free and the reception staff were friendly and helpful.
We were there in May and at this time a standard double room cost $260,a superior double(which has a kitchenette)$290 ... ...money! We were escorted up to our room, where the bellboy introduced us to the wonder that is Manhattan,by turning the lights out ,as it was night time, and showing us the view,I would recommend corner rooms as we looked right across the empire state and chrysler buildings on one side and right down the river on the other, amazing!!
The room was very spacious and the decor was very modern. We had a huge comfy bed,a sofa, desk and chair,TV,Open wardrobe,Safe, snacks(which ...

Advantages: Location, Service, Value Disadvantages: Construction going on outside
Last weekend, I had a memorable time in NYC, due largely to the Mgmt. and Staff at the Millenium Plaza Hotel. I took my daughter to NY to see the Lion King on Broadway for her 16th Birthday. I was a little apprehensive booking this hotel online and not knowing anything about it. In truth, it was the closest room we could find anywhere near the theatre district so we went ahead and booked it. We took the train from CT into Grand Central and it was ... ...early the staff said our room was ready and we could check in right thn.-2nd surprise. My daughter wanted to have dinner at Planet Hollywood and surprise No 3 was the concierge gave us VIP passes so that we could get preferred seating and no waiting! Surprise No 4 was we had an extra day to fill so again the concierge gave us discount tickets to the wax Museum. The staff was very accomodating and it seemed could not do enough to make us comfortable. ...

Advantages: Fantastic hotel all round! Disadvantages: Reception were slightly under staffed
I booked this hotel through a well known website and I decided to increase my budget compared to hotels I'd stayed in earlier in the week.
I still only paid approximately £100 per night and this proved well worth it.
The conceirage greeted up and made us feel very welcome.
At the check in desk the staff weren't the most helpful, but I think this was mainly due to a large amount of people checking in at the same time.
The lobby area of the hotel ... ...escorted to our room by a very kind member of staff. The room was very nice, a lovely view over New York and over the river. Bathroom was very nice and the bed was really big. The room was extremely clean.
We didnt get to try out the restaurant downstairs as it was a little bit too expensive for us. So we ordered in a chinese from a local take away. The hotel were fine with this and even provided us with cutlery when we phoned reception.
The destination ...

The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
