Millets....Good old millets, a familiar high street camping chain was taken over by blacks which became the OutdoorGroup Recently.

Their range of stock is based mainly on their own inhouse brands such as eurohike, Peter Storm and ALS.
Now you may have seen these before..... in a Blacks store as both are part of the same group. Peter Storm clothing is generally of reasonable quality, provided your doing nothing more than path walking it will serve you well. Go up and do some serious hillwalking and you can forget it - it is not designed for it. Jackets lack wired hoods, a crucial feature. Peter storm footwear is also something of a mixed blessing, they've managed to produce a range that goes from reasonable to abissmal as in general the footware is very high volume, heavy and lacks cushioning.

For loads above 8-10Kgs eurohike rucksacks should be avoided as well, their lack of load transfer to the hipbelt will leave the user with quite a sore back, spend a bit of extra money and go for a berghaus, vango, karrimor etc (well respected but more expensive brands!)

Staff knowledge is where Millets stores often fall down - quite often you find very few enthusiasts working as staff - something noted on various www.outdoorsmagic.com discussion forums and this can lead to customers being given quite wrong advice.... having said that cotswolds are said to suffer from the same problem

All in all, if you want a tent for camping in european campsites, are going to do some walking along lowland marked trails etc, you'll find everything you need in here and staff will advise you VERY well.
Going on an expedition and want advice etc??????.............Forget it, go to Tiso (found them to be very good) or an independant specialist!

Some more info about the store itself and not a better recommendation would have been nice to see! The cleanliness, appearance, attitudes of the staff, etc. Ste.

These people used to stock monkey boots, and now they don't any more. Most annoying!
