Fans of Bull Terriers will know the breed came about from the mixing of several breeds (including the now extinct White English Terrier, the Bulldog and allegedly Dalamation) and this resulted in avariety of shapes and sizes.
Apparently there were always small or toy dogs but these were largely overlooked, not surprising considering Bull Terriers were ... ...it). The Breed Standard states miniature must be between 10-14 inches at the shoulder.
I used to tease my Mum saying her bitch Bronte should be in the Guinness Book of Records as the worlds biggest miniature. I always claimed Bronte was 15 inches but us blokes are known to exaggerate.

My Saturday job when I was at school was in a Quarantine Kennels looking after dogs coming into this country and making sure they didn't bring rabies with them. My family had always kept Bull Terriers and if you have read my review on Bull Terriers you will know about Bert.

The miniature as a separate breed was finally recognised by the Kennel Club in 1939. However the Americans did not accept Miniatures for registration purposes until 1991.

Bull Terrier Charm I hate to admit it, especially to my Mum, but miniatures are just scaled down versions of the real thing (sorry Mum, miniatures are the real thing too).
Having kept the bigger version you keep expecting your miniature to grow up, it's like having a permanent puppy!
Advantages Smaller - eats (slightly) less and Bull Terriers love their food, takes up less space, weighs less (handy when they plonk down on your lap).
Disadvantages Keep thinking they will grow up.
Cost Similar to the real thing, sorry, standard.
Reccommended? Yes especially if the size and power puts you off the standard. Although as many people have commented the standard has an undeserved poor reputation and actually has a steadfast temperament.
