Ever been stuck for things to do on the Internet after you've done your essentials online? After checking your e-mail, reading through the ongoing barrage of news articles and browsing through random websites (perhaps looking for that elusive item on Ebay or Amazon?), do you find yourself wishing for things to keep you entertained, or to help you pass your time as you wait for something else to do? I only provide this example because I frequently encounter this situation while waiting during my day. And ever so often, I find myself unconsciously typing in m-i-n-i-c-l... and before I know it, I'm staring at the page load up from MiniClip.com and running through their list of games and applets. I heard about the website from a friend a few months ago while watching him play it on one of those late nights when I was in my computer lab trying to finish up on an assignment, and I’ve been a regular visitor of the website ever since.

For those who get frustrated downloading a huge game just to find out that it doesn’t work on your computer, this might be the site for you. If you’re looking for simple easy-to-play games, quick loading, and ease of use, MiniClip.com is once again for you. With a somewhat simple layout, MiniClip.com is pleasing to the eye as it is bathed in a nondescript blue-grey with its exhaustive list of games. For ease of use, MiniClip.com is divided into a variety of different categories, ranging from sports and puzzle games to the bizarre and weird "Dancing and Music" category. Navigation about the site is fairly simple, with the different pages of games loading up quickly upon being clicked on.

As mentioned before, the games are themselves divided into categories, and in addition to a separate page devoted to each genre of games, there is a field along the top left of the page with a navigation region with a scroll-down menu just above it. The newest game for the month is showcased in the same region, with the top games of the moment gracing the top of the website. The games themselves are quite entertaining and you will certainly find something to suit you. For sports-nuts, you'll look at pool and darts in a totally different light in the "Sports" section. The absence of a good football game is a glaring shortcoming of this category. If you’re into looting and plundering and shooting down baddies, the "Shoot-um Ups" category might be worth a look. If you’re looking for a laugh, or for something different to escape the monotony of your day, check out the "Dancing and Music" and "More Fun Stuff" categories. Some games require that you have Shockwave installed, and performance might vary depending on the specifications of your computer.

Games that stand out on this website are the pool and puzzle games, as well as any games showcased on the "Top 10 Games" list; however, this differs according to what you like, and perhaps what your interests are. It must be noted that, while MiniClip.com does help to relieve boredom, it can become boring and monotonous itself after a while. But while it lasts, it’s good fun.
