The little angel and the teaset
Advantages durable, fairly cheap
Disadvantages having to pretend to 'eat' plastic cake for hours!
I was recently staying with my boyfriend's brother and his 4-year-old daughter. On a shopping trip to Cambridge, we went to look for a tea set to keep the little angel occupied.
Her dad had spotted one earlier in the week, but when we went to the shop they had sold out. Not wanting to disappoint her, we headed to the Disney store where we found just the thing.
The tea set is contained in a large, clear plastic teapot with Minnie mouse pictures on the sides and a pink lid in the shape of a flower. Inside, the contents are as follows:
1 pink teapot with lid
1x milk jug
4x tea cups
4x saucers
4x plates
4x knives
4x spoons
4x forks
1x cake, which comes into 4 pieces.
On removing the contents from the big teapot, we found that the smaller teapot is made from quite a cheap looking plastic - the sort that can easily be squashed in at the sides. The other items however are better quality - being made of a stronger, probably more durable plastic. The Minnie mouse transfers did not come off despite being continuously submerged in water, and nor did the colour come off the top of the plastic cake. The cake itself is in four pieces, which stick together with Velcro and can then be 'cut' with the knife. The Velcro didn't seem to lose its stick, despite one piece of cake being left in the teapot full of water overnight!
PLAYING WITH THE SETThe angel had hours of fun with the tea set, but be warned, if you buy this for your child you will have a soaking wet floor, and most likely spend days drinking water from plastic cups and eating pretend cake! The teapot held the water in well - no leaks - despite the cheap plastic, and as my boyfriend said, the angel wouldn't notice the cheap plastic - she was just happy to have a new toy.
We learned pretty quickly not to put water in the large storage teapot, as it leaks straight out of the bottom and causes a very soggy carpet!
The large teapot is very convenient for storage, and everything fits in there well.
This set cost £10 from the Disney store, and I think it was a worthwhile investment as it's something she can play with for a good few years yet, and she has go plenty of enjoyment from it.
