Well after taking plenty of photo's in different light variations of most of my family, I found the photo and light quality ... ...flash makes short work of any dark shadowy places and the camera takes care of unusually light photo's as well.
It has a picture quality of 2560 x 1900 and a 7 x zoom of 200mm.
The camera has automatic and manual focus options and the automatic is extremely quick and intelligent.
The camera works well with Adobe Photoshop and has a fine, superfine and raw file compressor built in to make short work of all of your picture ... more
My next door neighbour recently bought a new digital camera for his computer and so he didn't need his old one anymore. His old one was a Minolta Dimage 7Hi camera retailing at nearly £500. When he offered me this camera for £150 I naturally snapped it up.
The camera is black and quite chunky to look at and it does look very expensive. It is well built and fairly heavy for a digital camera but what does it work like?
Well after taking plenty of photo's in different light variations of most of my family, I found the photo and light quality to be of the highest quality. The built in flash makes short work of any dark shadowy places and the camera takes care of unusually light photo's as well. It has a picture quality of 2560 x 1900 and a 7 x zoom of 200mm. The camera has automatic and manual focus options and the automatic is extremely quick and intelligent.
The camera works well with Adobe Photoshop and has a fine, superfine and raw file compressor built in to make short work of all of your picture resolutions, making it easier to download your photo's and put them into smaller files. The camera comes with a 16MB memory card which holds up to 75 pictures on high resolution (photo quality) and over 1000 pictures on low resolution which are still good quality to look at.
It comes with two large rechargeable batteries which don't really last all that long (about 60 working mins each) but then that is the same with most camera batteries so I'm told. The camera will run off of your average everyday AA pen batteries but they use up in a flash and can cause quite a bit of expense.
All in all though, I am thouroughly pleased with my purchase, at £150 you simply can't go wrong. I don't think I would buy it at the shop price though (a little out of my price range) My Dimage 7Hi came with all the necessary leads and an instruction manual which is quite complicated to read. My good neighbour was happy to show me all the workings though so I didn't need the book he he.
Oh, even though the instructions are poorly scripted, the camera is very easy to use once you get the hang of it. This despite the cameras complex look what with the various knobs and switches to fiddle around with.
I would definately reccomend these to anyone looking for a good quality camera but watch out for a cheaper price. The battery drainage is a big let down but that apart, the machine is almost faultless.
Advantages: Stunning pictures, easily accessible features and good manual control Disadvantages: A bit bulky and some controls a little un-intuitive

The Minolta however, is ready straight away and focuses quickly, being ready for the next shot immediately (you can select how long, if at all, the captured image remains on screen but this can be cleared with a press of the shutter release). The multi frame feature also works well with Ultra Higher Speed shutter continuing to take photos as long as the shutter release is pressed.
There are manny easy to access and useful features ... ...is great for keen amateurs and professionals. The CF card slot is easy to access but beware the eject button which is very annoying as you have to take care to fold it before closing the card slot cover.
The LCD display is recessed to avoid glare and when putting your eye to the view finder, the LCD turns off and the viewfinder turns on. Both can be switched on permanently or left to switch automatically. On my unit, the viewfinder LCD has a completely ...
