Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: no zoom feature
We got this camera just over three years ago. I'll never forget it. My husband was desperate to get a digital camera but we were due to go on holiday in the next two weeks. I said we'd get when we got back but he couldn't wait. While I was at work he went and bought one on the credit card. I remember him telling me he'd got it when he picked me up....and before I could say a word he said'but I bought you this necklace because I felt guilty' How he ... ...I was happy enough.
It's not a bad camera really. It has a screen on the back so that you can see what picture you have just taken and if you don't like it you can just delete it straight away and take another. You can delete all pictures in one go or one at a time. And there is a lock feature that you can put on to prevent any pictures being deleted by mistake.
You can change the setting on the camera from standard quality, fine and super fine. ...

Advantages: Small Disadvantages: No zoom, pretty ordinary
...better value. The Minolta 2300 has a 2 million pixel resolution with no zoom and uses CompactFlash storage. Its a compact digital with pretty much standard features. It uses USB to download or serial so is compatible with just about any operating system. If you were looking for a value digital camera then i would look else where as there is better on the market. All in all not fantastic perhaps sugest the Kodak 3400 or Fuji FinePix 2400 instead. ...

Manufacturer's product description
Minolta is pleased to introduce a new pocket-sized autofocus digital camera; the Dimâge 2300. The Dimâge 2300 combines quality images and ease of use. It incorporates in its small body: a high-resolution, 2.3 million-pixel CCD; all-glass aspheric lens; versatile white balance and flash modes; USB connection; Digital Zoom and macro capability; and easy operation similar to a traditional film camera. The Dimâge 2300 is an ideal choice for a variety of applications and users - personal or business, from novice to advanced. The Programmed AE, AWB (auto white balance) controls, and autoflash provide sharp, color correct images with accurate exposure. This new digital camera further provides exposure compensation, manual selection of preset white balance modes and flash mode options. The Dimâge 2300 package includes a USB cable for quick and easy image downloading to the computer. In addition, Digital Zoom lets the users monitor and record images at 1.4X or 2X zoom. When playing images using the color LCD monitor, 2X or 3X zoom can be selected. The lens' macro capability will even allow close-up shooting. Furthermore, the Dimâge 2300 is extra compact for an over 2 million-pixel digital camera with such extensive features. The camera's portability and well laid out controls featuring an optical viewfinder provide friendly operation, similar to that of a traditional film camera. The driver software and the photo retouching application provide everything needed for making creative greeting cards, home pages, and professional business reports. For pleasure or business, the Dimâge 2300 will be a versatile digital camera for the users.
I purchased this digital camera four months ago after having used my Nikon Coolpix CP2100 for about a year. I wanted a better performing camera with a greater zoom and more pixels.

There is a tendency for manufacturers to talk a lot of rubbish when it comes to selling cameras. I call it number abuse. They hope by lobbing enough numbers at you they can persuade you that because 'the numbers are higher' its a better camera. Please.... more
