A good robust and simple to use camera. The S404, 4 million (3.95) pixel, digital camera has all the features needed for the professional or the amateur. The high speed CPU can, when set, takes multiple shots like a standard 'wet film' SLR camara with a motordrive. You can change the picture settings easily from E-Mailable to quality portrait shots. The 35mm lens will accomodate most uses but the zoom has an extra feature in that it can increases the pixel size (to 2.2)for a long shot. Capable of shooting motion JPEG movie clips, dependant on your flashcard size, all able to be played back on the 46mm LCD display screen,PAL or NSTC TV sets through the AV out port, or downloaded to your computer. Using AA Ni-MH batteries I had no problem with battery life, giving around 100mins of usage before change. As the owner of 2 'wet' film cameras they have been made almost redundant by this one. The Main on/off rotary switch was my only concern in that it can switch itself on when pushed into the case but as the auto/off is enabled it does not impinge on battery life.A Quality camera that feels like quality easy to use but can produce professional results if the user explores its features.
Welcome to Ciao from another newbie! Your op was helpful on the technical side and I was very interested in the comment about battery life. I would have liked some more info on your personal view of it - why did you buy this particular one? What does it feel like to handle? Any accessories? Price you paid? Thanks! Salx

I wouldn't suggest Dimage to be an ideal name for a camera!:) -Jon
