...Seagate have always made great harddrives and this is no excepetion it reads and writes fast.
This drive is one in a new range of seagate drives that use perpendicular recording technology, meaning more space per platter.
There is only one bad point to this drive and that is the noise you can here it read this may not be a problem for some but compared to the samsung harddrive I also have in my pc, the seagate makes the most noise (you cant hear the samsung).
Good points for this drive include the price its pritty cheap for the price and amount of storage you get, being a seagate you get a nice long 5 year guarantee.
Technical specs
- Capacity: 250 GB
- Speed: 7200 rpm
- Interface: SATA-II
- Cache: 16MB
- 5 year manufacturer''s warranty
To conclude this is an excellent harddrive as expected from such a great manufacture...

Advantages: Fast, Cheap,Reliable Disadvantages: a little hot, a little noisy
...As a computer geek I used many HardDrivesdrives until this one and I'm finally satisfied. As a multitasking user i open many programs at the same time: antivirus, internet, multiple downloads, winamp and even gaming at the same time and often I even game sometimes and this hdd really does a good job. The 320GB (290 Gb actually) are sufficient for storage and comes at a very decent price.
The wd harddrives are really reliable, not a single problem until now in 2 months of usage.
The transfer rates are insane: 80 Mb max at data read and 75 Mb max at data write, about 13 ms access time.
The temperatures are pretty hot in summer, I recommend cooler.
It is a little noisy but are far more noisier harddrives on the market
Stability: 4 full days of massive downloads, in summer is enough for you?!
Overall: great hdd drive...

Speed Show! Review ofWestern Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150 GBby
Farrukh
Advantages: The fastest available,16 MB buffer, 4.6 ms seek time, 10000 rpm. Disadvantages: Very expensive, Little capacity
...Every few months one of the five or so large drive manufacturers (Western Digital, Maxtor, Hitachi, etc) comes out with a new harddrive claiming revolutionary advancements. This crap is almost never true, but with the new 150 GB Raptor we finally have a drive that trys to live up to some of its billing. If you are an enthusiast, power user, rich or just plain hate the slow boot times of Windows, then these Raptors are your ticket. The model I am reviewing here is the Raptor X and includes a clear window in the top plate.
Western Digital has taken a long close look at its previous 10,000 rpm Raptor drives (and many competitors 10,000 and 15,000 rpm SCSI drives) and improved upon almost every weakness. Most notably, the Raptor now sports 150 GB of storage, which is double the amount of room of its previous flagship Raptor. The drive also...

I like the ease of use of this hard drive, especially the shortcut button which allows any application to be launched with a touch of a button.
