Why I stopped taking Minulet

Advantages easy to take
Disadvantages dangerous
When I first started taking the pill at the age of 15, it was not to aid contraception. It was because I was suffering from very painful periods. Many young girls can sympathise with me there no doubt.
At the time, the "fashionable" (if that is the right word) pill to be prescribed by the doctor was Minulet.
I was suprised how quickly the little tablet began working. My first period showed a remarkable improvement. Id became less heavy and much less painful. The actual bleed cycle is heavily reduced as well.
Sorry to put the guys off here but you should know what we go through.
Minulet is a 21 day on/7 day off pill. This means you have a break in taking it to enable your body to have a "false bleed". After the 7 days, you begin to take it again and repeat the cycle.
Taking the pill is best done at a time that is routine to your body. i.e. getting up or going to bed. Keeping them by your bed is best.
Minulet is good because, as with other varieties, it has the days of the week on the reverse of the packet. This prevents you forgetting how many you have taken or what day you are up to.
The tablet itself is very small. It is more like a large cake decoration than a pill. So for people afraid to take tablets, it would be ideal.
It did serve its main purpose too. Baby prevention. I have been with my husband since I was 17 and 5 years of our relationship was spent during my Minulet days. We never had any scares or pregnancies during that time so it obviouly did its job.
Many people complain of weight gain during Pill taking but I experienced none of this. I did however notice my boobs got slightly bigger! This is supposedly due to the levels of hormone and quite common in younger girls on the pill.
However,After 7 years of taking Minulet, I discovered that there are increased health risks with taking it.
With all pills, there is an increased risk of blood clots. This is substantially higher with some pills than others. Unfortunately, Minulet was at a dangerous level and I was forced to re-evaluate my pill.
