We bought the Mirac Mio 269+ mainly to use in navigating our motorhome around Europe. The unit has a built-in map of most of Europe so there is no worry about crossing borders. It is a small piece of kit and can easily fit into a pocket for walking or biking, there is even a cycle mount included in the price as well as the usual vehicle holder. The battery is rechargable and a 12V vehicle unit is included as well as a mains charger.
There is no manual, well there is but it (or they as there are two - one for the hardware and one for the software) is in pdf format on CD. The manuals can be printed but each is 120-ish pages long so we have not printed them.
Using the system was not easy for a first-timer so the CD was in frequent use initially, in fact it was easier to copy the manual to PChard drive and use it from there. We also copied it onto our laptop as that usually comes on our motorhome holidays.
Initially we were quite impressed with the performance of the 269+, it seemed accurate in locating places near home. We found straight away that the handy speed limit warning could be a bit of a pain as it was often inaccurate, i.e. it didn't know the correct speed limit for the road we were travelling. This seemed worse in Europe where it would frequently try to tell me that the limit was 50kph on a motorway (where it is 120 or more).
Our first real problem occured quite early on when the unit clearly expected us to negotiate a roundabout the 'other' way round! Back at home we had to do a soft reset to re-set the thing. Later it took to just 'freezing' , the last time was in the middle of negotiating some complicated motorway junctions in Germany. Again a soft reset put it right, but you can't stop on a motorway and conduct a soft reset routine, well I can't anyway!
The V2.0 Mio map is still proclaimed on the advertising blurb as being 'new', but other models have Mio map V3.0. Apparently there is no intention to upgrade the 269+ to V3.0. That is a pity as V2.0 is well out-of-date and needs replacing.
I guess we got what we paid for but it wasn't worth it! The support from Mitac is difficult to say the least, non exsistent is closer.
My advice is to pay a bit more and get quality from the outset, we have wasted money and time on this navigation system and would not recommend it to anyone (unless they want to buy a secondhand model . . .).
