I purchased a set of these speakers approximately 4 years ago. I was on a bit of a budget at the time so I didn't have a large choice of speakers. Anyway as it turned out I listened to a set of the speakers and was pleasantly surprised at how detailed they were and how much bass they gave away; especially in comparison with their direct competitors. I bought them at £129.99, at a time when the full retail was £199.99 as far as I was concerned these were an absolute bargain, especially being quite new to the game myself. They are a fairly large speaker, especially upon first introduction, but stand very tall and slim once in a room. Upon setting the speakers up with my system (Sherwood amplifier, and Technics cd player) I was simply gob smacked at how such a cheap system/speaker set-up could bring so many of my cd's back to life. One of the first tracks I played (and still a firm favourite) The Charlatans- The only one I know; sounded explosive as it thumped through the speakers yet retained all the detail in the vocals and the classic organ sounds which a band of the era make good use of. The bass port is forward firing; therefore it doesn't matter too much where they are in the room. And all this in my own front room! I have continued to use these speakers, and they never fail to satisfy. Even with the arrival of my new B&W speakers I still can't part with such a lovely rich sounding speaker. The speaker will take anything you throw at it, from classical to Dance even the distorted beats of hip-hop. They will also put up with some hard work, you can drive them really hard without upsetting them in the slightest and they will continue to take the power for extended periods of use. And above all else when people see these dominant, yet sleek speakers they can't help but say wow. There big, but not too big, but do be sure that your room is big enough for the sound they produce...

Listen to the speakers on a low volume for a period of time i.e. - 4 weeks or more. This will help to bed the speaker in, and avoid any unnecessary damage to the driver (Over driving the speaker).
Angle the speakers in the room, so that they are both pointing in the general direction of the place where you sit to listen to your music. Otherwise you will not get the full effect.
The speakers come with a set of spikes... Use them!! They will help isolate the bass, and stop it wallowing through the floor (Be it floorboards or concrete).
After a happy period of time bringing all your old cd's back to life, consider making use of the bi-wiring facility the speaker has. This will add a whole new dimension to the speaker, giving you even more value for money. Seek advice in doing this as it is difficult to explain and can be done wrong.
Some cd players have a dB + and - function. Think of this as a tap. You can usually only adjust this into the minus side, so presume our proverbial tap is already on. Set the amp volume to the required rate say a 1/4 of the dials rotation. Now press the minus button on your cd controller. This serves to 'close the tap' and slow the water down (sound gets quieter). What this is actually doing is stopping as much information going into the amp, therefore letting the amp deal with the information at its own rate. This will achieve two things. 1. It will make the speaker sound clearer, and make it sound less like a collision of sounds i.e. treble and bass crashing at very loud volumes. And 2. It will avoid over driving the speaker (easily done at parties).
Always replace the dust covers after use, they have a white cone which looks great... but won't continue to do so after prolonged exposure to a dusty environment, and all your friends wanting to touch the 'lovely white bit'.
There is only one thing to watch out for with this speaker and that is. If you do overdrive the speaker early into its life, it has been known for the main driver unit (White cone) to fall in the cabinet. This is a fairly uncommon fault, but one that will happen early on if at all, but won't be helped by over amorous listening.
Above all else enjoy the speakers, you won't believe what you have just got for your money and will be pinching yourself to check that they are that good. Especially if you are a novice to hi-fi separates. The speakers encouraged me to listen to more varieties of music, and helped me enjoy it effortlessly...
Advantages: Brilliant, bassy beasts for those on a budget Disadvantages: Not biwirable
These Mission 702e's of mine really can handle everything I seem to through at them. I was really surprised by little they cost in comparison to the amazing performance. When I bought them they where £180 but I expect they have gone done in price now, lucky you if you buy a pair.
The 702e's come in both black and beech and have a small tweeter placed centrally below an 18 cm sub. The sub looks really funky with its white cone and black centre and ... ...As far as I can hear they seem to sound best in a medium size room (around 6m by 6m) as they produce good but not too boomy bass. After some testing I have sat mine about half a metre away from any walls so that they can breathe without being exposed. With the right songs the mission's can give absolutely amazing performances. If you like garage try Right Before My Eyes by N'n'G it sounds so clear and the bass line is strong while still being very ...

Advantages: massive sound at the price Disadvantages: theyre floorstanders, have you got the space
...to mind but then again Mission never really did go for gimmicks. However, take the cover off and youll find that the cone is white with black in the middle which looks pretty cool. These speakers are also bi-wirable (very rare at the price) but i havent listened so i cant tell you about that.
Basically the best sub £200 speakers Ive ever heard! ...

Advantages: Outstanding Value, good looks, would fit into many rooms well, easy to drive Disadvantages: Some have problems with unglueing of baffles
...I sent them back to mission and they had them fixed in 3 days - I was impressed with the speed of the service. Now I have no more rattles
- - - "Follow up", Spoken to Mission who say the rattly baffle problem is due to the water based glue they used in an attempt to be more environmentally friendly. If they must be fixed, they use 'proper' glue. - - - Overall, these speakers produce a very strong sound, and when positioned correctly, bass is smoooth, ...

Advantages: Bass Performance, Treble performance Disadvantages: You have to really look around to find them.
...to start with and these Mission 702e floorstanding speakers are very high on my speakers list.
Released back in 1999, these floorstanders are the Mission 702e's carrying on the great series of the Mission 700's including standmounters 700 and 701. These speakers were given a five star rating by what-hifi sound and vision and have been very popular since they were released.
The overall sound of these floorstanders is very good indeed. Bass performance ... ...a huge amount of solid taut bass here. The bass never sounds unruly or out of place. The treble performance is also fantasic with vocals and instruments sounding very natural because the tweeter works very well indeed. Integrating superbly with the bass cone to make a seamless performance.
It is quite difficult to buy these speakers in HI-FI stores now but you can still find some great bargains online from stores like ebay or amazon. I am bidding ...

Advantages: Kicking sound, price Disadvantages: Cone's are delicate and break easily
...i impressed! The mission 702e's are not to be taken lightly these will perform in even the most expensive set up. i have seen these perform as well as a £450 pair of Jamo's (probably most well known for making 'club' style speakers) with two bass drivers, and were not noticeably different. The bass put out by the mission's was not as deep as the jamo's but on par with the treble and mid-range.
The misson's are rated at 20W-100W matching of amplifiers, ... ...much different to most other speakers. They come with a bass driver which is a kevlar moulded dome, this basically is woven synthetic. The tweeter that provides treble is a soft dome style. They come in either a black or beech casing and llok the part, i must say with the grills than without.
Obviously they are not the cream of floorstanders, and beware in convoy the bass driver cones are very delecate. this more than likely because of their woven ...

Advantages: fantastic 'big', rich sound. Very good price. Disadvantages: quite deep, need to be away from wall
demonstrations of both products (albeit in different shops!), and much to my own astonishment,I opted for the Eltax. I had fully intended on the basis of equal reviews to go for the Mission by virtue of it being from bass-ported not rear like the Eltax. However I couldn't ignore the fact that the Eltax had a considerably superior definition of bass. It was clearer and smoother than the Mission, which was quite bass-heavy and boomy in comparison. The only drawback is that they are both slightly deeper in size than the Mission and rear bass-ported which means they shouldn't be placed directly against the wall.
Notwithstanding this however, they are a seriously class act, can handle 100 watts of power and deliver a depth and quality of sound which, if you're used to compact speakers, will take your breath away. ...
I have owned the mission702e for approx 8 months now and they continue to astound me every day. Bought to replace an ageing set of Heybrook HB1`s, these 34inch high boxes are the pinnicle of budget (£200) Hi-Fi. Treble is crisp and clean, midrange is full and flowing but the real plus for the 702e`s is the bass response. Having a cabinet size almost double that of it`s smaller bookshelf brother, the 701, the 702e`s can reproduce bass with such punch and agility that I have removed my graphic eq and now run the amp on `source direct` all the time. After the initial running in period of approx 2 weeks they really start to open up and become really involving. Finishes available are black ash or beech and power handling is up to 100watts. Actual dimensions are 85.22.30 and sensitivity is 89db in to 8 ohms. If you are looking for a superb ...

Tori Amos these speakers cope brilliantly. I have only had these speakers two days and I am already in love with them. The seller on ebay was selling these due to receiving a new pair of Monitor Audio BR2's and he said even though they have received so many rave reviews they are only marginally better than these speakers. Originally £170 new these would compete with most speakers up to about £250 and some even up to £300.
My brother has a pair of Mission702e floorstanders and these 771's continue the great name of Mission in British HiFi. A great pair of speakers and these are in great condition and I'm sure you will be able to find these speakers online for around £50. ...
