Advantages: High quality sound Disadvantages: Not the best bass without a subwoofer
...I noticed a pair of Mission M2S speakers (the individual speakers from the M2S Loudspeaker Package Mission slowed and may have stopped producing as they upgraded) on sale for £49.95 a pair, which are valued at a normal price of £99.95 a pair. After seeing this good price, I instantly went overboard and grabbed 3 pairs, to upgrade the front, side and rear speakers in my system (so much for only looking for front speakers). I declined the sub woofer, ... ...happy with my current one.
The speakers have a power of 75 watts, of which you do not need any more of if you are using them for home use. They also have Impedance of 8 Ohms and sensitivity of 88Db's (which means they will work well with both lower and higher quality amps. Unfortunately the speakers are not magnetically shielded or Bi-Wired, but not a problem if you have a sub woofer and don't need to put them on top of other electrical ... more
After deciding to upgrade my surround sound speakers, I had a look at a few Loud Speaker packages, and then at the individual bookshelf speakers to compare price with value for money.
I first decided to go with the individual bookshelf speakers rather than the all in one package, as you only need to have good front speakers to get the high quality sound feeling, and can drop a few levels for your side and rear speakers, as they do not need to produce as many sounds.

The speakers are a very nice black wood, with a silver front and black speaker over. They look good with or without the cover, and will go well with most surroundings. They are not big (H 215mm, W 130mm, D 180mm) so they fit in most places without taking over the place.
Installation was easy, your usual black to black, red to red, put them where you want, and away you go.
The sound quality is excellent, especially for movies, however if you are using them more for music, you will still want a sub woofer, as their bass is good, but doesn't have as much of an impact as you may like. What is nice about them is they do not produce a static sound when there is no signal, so the quiet moments are quiet. For those who like high volumes, these speakers keep the quality well without getting distorted, which is a major plus point.
For value, if you are looking for bookshelf speakers round the £50 - £70 mark, you will find it very difficult to get any better, however if you are willing to go up to the original £100 mark, you may want to have a quick look around for some Bi-Wireable speakers to help with the bass.
All in all, for the money, I would grab a pair for home use, and to show off.
