Advantages: Deep bass, weighty sound. Relatively cheap. Disadvantages: Actually discontinued (seek out newer mx3s), treble and detail can sound a little less exciting compared to other speakers.
...Although these speakers have now been replaced by the newer mx3s (which are similar, but have been tweaked a little over these m3s), they are the speakers I currently own, so I thought I'd review them (since no-one else has and there's not even a Tannoy category! (shame on you, Ciao!)).
I bought these speakers just over a year ago, to go with an Arcam Alpha One amp. I listened to some other speakers as well, such as the Q35s from KEF (I think) and the Mission 733e, and also Acoustic Energy AE120SEs, but since the latter are normally £600, we'll leave them out of the discussion.
The m3s are nice enough looking floorstanders, with isolation spikes and bass reflex ports. They are a two way design (1 tweeter and 1 mid/bass driver) with single inputs (i.e. not bi-wireable).
Basically, I settled on these because of the price (£230...

Advantages: Modern Looking/ 5 Year Guarantee Disadvantages: Not The Best Speaker(s)
....
These speakers can be purchased from various electronic stores, such as Hifistore, from prices ranging from £169.95 to £179.95. So it may be worth looking around if you are interested.
As for recommending these; no I don't really recommend. They are of a nice design and created to a great standard and the sound quality is great in my opinion (and my families) although it is not the best. The volume of the TV, even when it wasn't that high appeared to cause a buzzing sound to omit from the speakers. I think that better could probably be picked up for this price range.
Below, are some more features listed on the manual:
- Frequency Response 3db 64Hz to 20kHz
- Sensitivity SPL/m/2.83V 86dB
- Cross-Over Frequency 2.4kHz
- Effective Volume 4.5 litres
- Nominal Impedance 8 Ohm (min. 5 Ohms)...

Advantages: Multi-use; very very stylish; light; robust Disadvantages: controls on the remote can be fiddly for we old codgers. Don't always work as expected.
...adjust volume - or I haven't yet mastered it!
I unfortunately broke the supplied earphones.(my fault) They were very good but not particularly secure in the ear. The Sony replacements are somewhat better even on sound quality.
I said this was a multi-use machine. Apart from the radio and MP3 player it has other advantages.
It will record and play Ogg Vorbis MP3 format which I don't think the Apple does.
It is a dictating machine and can also record radio programmes - not a good idea if moving around though because of the reception variations.
The deciding choice for me was that it can be connected to my hi-fi and allows me to copy not just CD's but my Vinyl collection.
It also came into its own recently when a friend had a problem with his computer. This stylish little device doubles as a tiny external hard disk!!!! Magic...
