Another home audio speaker to pass through my household is this - the Mission m50.

The speakers come packed in a box, with an image of the speakers on it, so you can see exactly what you are in for. Also, along with them, comes an information manual, pointing out the various specs and features of the speakers. The manual is easy to read, and the speakers appear (I didn't set these ones up personally) simple to set up.

These speakers are intended for indoor use and once removed from the box, you will realise that these speakers are in actual fact, extremely compact, and nicely designed. The actual dimensions of the speakers given on the box are: Height: 220 mm, Width: 140mm and the depth is 255mm.

The packaging also tells us that: 'The Mission's stylish rounded baffle technique has been developed especially for the m5 series'.

Design wise, these are nice speakers. They look modern, and so would easily fit in to any modern household. To help the speakers fit in to your home; they come in a variety of styles. The speakers are available in Rosewood, Silver, Beech or Graphite Black. I have seen all the styles, and all look stunning. Personally I think that the Graphite Black variation, which we posses, is the nicest looking. However, obviously, you would want to choose which ever colour scheme fitted with your surroundings.

Also the speakers’ compact design means that they would not be a burden at all. They can easily be placed out of sight, so if you don't want the speakers to be present, you can 'hide' them. However, caution must be taken if you decide to do so, as you may muffle the sound if you place the speakers behind objects. Although to be honest, these speakers are quite good looking, so you don't really need to hide them. One other point to make is that these speakers can easily be mounted on to stands.

One nice feature of these speakers is that they are magnetically shielded. What does this mean? Well, if the speakers were not magnetically shielded then it would not be safe to put them near to the TV, as a result the speakers could have a negative effect on the TV's colours. It is great that these are magnetically shielded, as this means that you can place them near your TV if you wish too, to heighten your experience. However, I don’t think that these would be good if you intended to use them as speakers for a home cinema set up.

What is great about these speakers is that they have a 2 way design, meaning that sound can come from both the front and rear of the speakers. They also have 100 Watts power handling and an amplifier power of 25 - 100 W/Ch.

So what do these actually sound like? Well, if placed near the TV on stands, the sound is great! Sounds are of a nice clear quality, although to be honest, we did find that the volume at certain levels caused the speakers to distort the sound, as well as omit a buzzing sound. Also the bass on these did not really impress us. Although to be fair, this is not primarily a bass system, so it wouldn't be top notch in that area.

With the purchase of these speakers, a 5 year guarantee comes with them. The speakers are very durable, and still work to this day; we have only experienced minor problems with them. That problem being that the cable leading in to one of the speakers itself became quite loose. Otherwise, nothing else has ever been a problem with these things.

These speakers can be purchased from various electronic stores, such as Hifistore, from prices ranging from £169.95 to £179.95. So it may be worth looking around if you are interested.

As for recommending these; no I don't really recommend. They are of a nice design and created to a great standard and the sound quality is great in my opinion (and my families) although it is not the best. The volume of the TV, even when it wasn't that high appeared to cause a buzzing sound to omit from the speakers. I think that better could probably be picked up for this price range.

Below, are some more features listed on the manual:

- Frequency Response 3db 64Hz to 20kHz
- Sensitivity SPL/m/2.83V 86dB
- Cross-Over Frequency 2.4kHz
- Effective Volume 4.5 litres
- Nominal Impedance 8 Ohm (min. 5 Ohms)
