I've always used a roll-on anti-perspirant deodorant, but recently I've tried one or two of the cheaper store's own brand ones and felt that they weren't really doing the job as well as they might. So whilst in John Lewis, I had a look to see what else was available and found the Mitchum anti-perspirant deodorant that claims it is 'so effective you can even skip a day'. At the price of £1.77 it seemed worth trying.
Another Ciao reviewer seemed happy with Mitchum but couldn't bear the thought of not washing every day. I decided that I wanted to see if the claims of forty-eight hour protection really were true. I used Mitchum for the first time after having a shower, on a day that I was going to work. After shaking the bottle, I applied it in the usual way. It seemed creamier than other roll-ons I'm used to using and took longer to dry, but not more than two or three minutes which isn't a huge problem. I had chosen the 'powderfresh' scent, which appeared to be a combination of a heavy perfume, not particularly pleasant but not long lasting either, and a lighter, more delicate fragrance that I found to be the enduring one.
I was perfectly happy with Mitchum's performance that day, as my underarms stayed dry and there was a gentle perfume, not an overpowering one. The following morning I got up and still felt no sign of perspiration. As I was not going to work that day, I decided to put Mitchum to the test. If it didn't last, it would be quite easy for me to have a wash or a shower and apply some more. That morning I walked for about an hour; in the afternoon I walked again for at least forty-five minutes and carried some heavy shopping home. The weather was mild and I was wearing a jumper with a leather jacket on top, so normally I would have been in a pretty sticky state by the time I got home. But no, Mitchum lived up to its claim - my underarms were still dry, and the delicate smell was still noticeable. Even by the following morning I still felt quite fresh, although I can assure you I did have a shower at the end of the forty-eight hours!
The Mitchum roll-on is made by Revlon and comes in a green plastic 100ml bottle. As I mentioned, I bought the 'powderfresh' variety, but there is also an unperfumed one that presumably would be suitable for men as well. It claims to give anti-bacterial protection as well as being a long-lasting anti-perspirant deodorant. The bottle warns that it should not be used on damaged or irritated skin, but this is normal for all anti-perspirants.
I have already mentioned that I bought mine for £1.77 at John Lewis, who claim to be 'never knowingly undersold', and this was not a special offer. On Tesco's website the price is £2.66, although at the time of writing they have a special offer of two for £3 (ending very soon) which is excellent value. As it has worked so well for me, I obviously feel that it is worth spending more money on - I wouldn't normally go without washing, but you do feel more confident knowing that this is such a long-lasting product.
Based on personal experience, I would definitely recommend Mitchum.
Advantages: No sweating at all.. Disadvantages: Takes a while to dry..
...honest I have been using Mitchum deordorant for a number of years now.So I can't actually tell you how I came across it. The one that I am going to concentrate on in this review is the unperfumed Roll on.
The Bottle itself
The roll on is available in two sizes, 50ml and 100ml. Its very easy to spot on the Supermarket shelf as its dark green in colour with the word Mitchum splashed across the front in stringy white writing. The 50ml size is a little ... ...100ml on the go at the moment and its just running out after applying it every day, it has lasted me for a good three months. The smaller size would be great for taking on holiday, as its obviously half the weight of the big one.
On the front of my bottle it tells me that it will keep me fresh and dry for 48 hours.Well..we'll see about that. The lid itself is very easy to unscrew. It is fairly large, and a couple of twists and its off.You are then ...

...this reason that I discovered Mitchum antiperspirant.
I have read many bad things about aluminium based antiperspirants, but the situation was so bad that I had to try something. These type of antiperspirants are chemical agents that reduce perspiration by blocking the sweat ducts, whereas deodorants merely mask the smell. Many antiperspirants contain deodorant as well. There are a vast array of antiperspirants in the shops and do tend to be more ... ...for the 100ml version.
Mitchum roll ons are recognisable by their pearlescent green bullet shaped containers. Emblazoned across the lid is the claim 'Proven 48 hour Protection',endorsing their claim that it is 'so effective you could even skip a day !'.It claims to be quick drying, non stinging, anti-bacterial and to leave no white marks. As with all products of this type it warns you not to apply to broken or inflamed skin and to discontinue if ...

Mitchum is an anti-persperant deodorant which also offers anti-bacterial protection. It is available is spray form and stick form as well as roll on. Shake before use, I am refering to the roll on, but you would need to shake the spray on aswell. Apply evenly. Replace cap tightly after use. Allow to dry before putting on clothes. It recommends that Mitchum roll on will not sting, even after shaving. I love the powder fresh more than the unperfumed, it smells very much as you would imagine powder fresh to smell, like putting ...

Advantages: It really really works Disadvantages: I've only found it in Boots, and it's made by Revlon, so not against animal testing
This could be embarrassing, but I can't keep to myself what was a fantastic find!
Suddenly, a year or two ago, I just started sweating. Not smelly sweat, no odour at all, just wet sweat. Every time I wore a close fitting top any time between Spring and Autumn, I'd develop charming wet patches under my arms. It's pretty distressing to suddenly start feeling self-conscious every time you reach up to a shelf, or wave to someone, or scratch your head!
... ...of deodorant. For your information that was Body Shop's camomile roll-on. I only really used it because it was a favourite stocking-filler from Grandma, as she knows I like to use products not tested on animals. I shopped around, I used the men's Body shop alternative for a bit, thinking that maybe they get the benefit of super-strength ingredients, being the more commonly stinkier of the species. Not so.
I tried Mum, as that's what Mum uses (she ...

...are getting for your money. Mitchum aerosol comes in a 150ml can for £2.65, unless you hotfoot it down to Sainsbury's like I did, where you can pick it up for £1.65 on special offer.

Mitchum is different though I have found that as it starts to work it remains smelling of talcum powder. It retains the sweet original smell and does not turn into a chemical disaster under your arms.
The strength of this deodorant is better than the average one of the shelves, hence the 48-hour claim, and I like the protection and assurance of this. However I have to be careful when trying stronger deodorants as I had a ...

Advantages: Leaves no marks, smells fresh, nice no-nonsense package. Disadvantages: Does not keep my armpits dry.
Although I am a fan of simple, even bit old-fashioned looking products, I have to say that Mitchum Cool Dry Hydro Solid Powderfresh Anti-PerspirantDeodorant does not keep my armpits powderfresh. I do not particularly like the colour of the packaging (mint green and pink), but the simplicity is admirable. On the positive side, I like smell of it, reminds me of an old favourite Teen Spirit, and it's brilliant because it's a stick and yet leaves no marks, not even on black clothes. I'm also liking the anti-bacterial fact - which does keep the smell of sweat away. I sweat a lot, and compared to most deodorants, Mitchum is very high on my list. I'd put it on top if it had no aluminum in it. Thumbs up anyway! ...
Advantages: No white marks, lasts a while, effective against BO Disadvantages: Expensive, smells funny, takes a while to dry, can irritate
CRAP. It didn't stop me from sweating at all and it certainly wasn't effective against BO. It's cheaper than the stick or roll on and now I know why! Avoid it!!
-The Roll On-
Finally, I tried out the roll on version in the hopes to find a happy medium because Mitchum was still the most effective deodorant and anti-perspirant I'd used (and it still is!). Out of the three options, I'd recommend the roll-on most. I find it to work just as good as the stick and it hasn't irritated my skin like the stick did. It also dries a LOT faster!
So all in all, this is a very effective product against sweat and BO but please watch out for any skin irritation and avoid the aerosol like the plague! ...
Advantages: Reduces sweat, moisture, etc Disadvantages: Breaks off easily
In my family we have inherited the unpleasant trait of sweating- a lot.
At school I had to change my shirt everyday, and the rest of time I often couldnt wear a t-shirt two days in a row. Other deodorants or anti-perspirants would leave white marks, and wouldn't help with the perspiration or smell (after a long hot day).
But Mitchum is by far the best I have used. I bought it cheaply in a shop called Body Care that stocks brand name products at lower prices. It does leave slight white marks but all deodorants do and these never cause an issue. It says on the stick that it is so effective you could miss a day, I dont believe this and Ive never tried it. Certainly Mitchum is very good as an anti-perspirant, reduces moisture (no more sweat-patches), and the solid stick is easy to apply. It is like a solid white, cream stick ...
