...In order to reduce the speed that my living room was sinking, beneath the mud that is my front garden, under the weight of my old 32" Mitsubishi CRT widescreen television. I decided it might be an idea to replace it with something a little lighter. To this end I chose the Hitachi L32H01, an HD-ready 720p/1080i 32" widescreen LCD panel. This model features both Freeview digital and analogue tuners that allowed me to use my old set top box with my SCART-enabled portable television in order to extend its life beyond the digital switchover. Advantages: its wicked
Disadvantages: well its not top of the range

...Absolutely blew us away at first having upgraded from a 19" TV. The picture looks great, I sit about 10' away from it and it looks just as crisp as any regular tube TV, when you get as close as like 6' the picture quality starts to diminish, but that's damn close. Also if you are looking from high above the screen (maybe from far below if you are standing it on something) the brightness decreases. It looks great from sitting on the floor or on a couch, just not standing up when close to the TV (who would watch TV like this anyway). Remote is pretty good as it should be (my dad already has 5 remotes), as are the menu features. Looks great with using the component video inputs from a DVD. Advantages: excellent reception, simple set-up, reliability
Disadvantages: not gorgeous to look at

...Several months ago I got rid of my Sky family pack subscription after realising I was paying a ridiculous amount of money each month and only watching free-to-view channels anyway. Sky duly banished, off I went to get myself a freeview set top box. After a nasty experience with the cheapest I could find (a Mitsubishi that didn't work properly from day one and also interfered with my terrestrial channels and video), I got myself a Daewoo Setpal and haven't looked back. LOOKS The Daewoo Setpal is about 3 inches high, 10 inches wide and 7 deep, and comes in a silver coloured plastic-type material. It isn't the most t beautiful or expensive looking piece of equipment, but then no set top boxes are, and it's not so ugly that you have to hide it away either.
