I was a little weary buying an import car at first and heard all sorts of horror stories about imports. However there is a dedicated FTO owners club which you can join for £10 a year. There is always someone who can offer advise and supply spares if required. Mitsubishi also support this car at their UK dealers, and can get any parts and service this car as required!!
I have had the car for 6 months now and have nothing but praise. For £5,700 I got a 2.0l, 24V, V6, ABS, Traction Control, Climate control, all electric's, the works, Providing these cars are serviced as required you will have no problems.
The handling is excellent, you get 0-60 in just under 7 seconds and the tiptronic gearbox is superb and the modification potential is limited only by your finances.
This car is a real head turner also and I've lost track of the amount of times people want to talk to me about it. Not bad for £5,700.
If possible however, get the 1997 and upwards model which has a 5 speed auto box. The 1995 I have is only 4 speed and this along with the lack of practical space are my only criticisms.
