My husband had been pestering me for the mitsubishi L200 for a while but after only driving for 8 months the sheer thought of a machine that size was seriously frightning. But i gave in and went to test drive a 53reg silver warrior which had no VAT on it as some other private user had already paid it.If you are a private buyer this is something you seriously need to consider. To my surprise the ease of driving this vehicle was amazing. When you get in the vehicle you are immediatley cacooned in what feels like an army tank the high driving posistion that can only be beat by artic lorries make you feel you are looking down on people from the moon. Of course as impulsive as we are we bought the car there and then without wheiging up any pros and cons until we got home. The first obstical in buying an L200 for personal use is insurance not many of the high street companies will insure as they are classed as commercial vehicles but after shopping round we found that insurance is obtainable and extremely reasonable, as i said i had only been driving for 8 month & we only paid £550 for the both of us. The next thing we found out about was fuel economy dont expect to get very far when only putting £15 of diesel in,there is a reason why the fuel tank holds 75 litres ( i can assure you its not for spare). The car we bought had 4500miles on the clock so it had had its first service but we soon clocked up the other 4500miles to take it to its 9000miles service after a phone call to mitsubishi the service was going to cost £270 (ouch). The interior of the car is very typical of a japenese car it is not full of gadgets or 5star luxery but everything is exactly laid out where it should be. Also i should mention that this car does not come with an alarm as standard.
For a commercial user there is no better vehicle in my opinion the car does exactly what it says on the tin its a big heavy load lugger which will hold its own out in the jungle as well as round the city. For a personal user there are a lot of things to consider before buying this as your main family car but if you put aside all the cons to this car you will enjoy every minute of the firm, solid rugged fun drive that the L200 provides.

A good review. I've just persuaded my wife that I need one!! Having owned a Chevy Blazer (4.3ltr V6) that did 15 miles to the gallon the L200 should be great. I could keep the TDi Golf I have but the L200 Warrior is so much fun to drive.
Advantages: Multi-functional/High driving position/Good towing capability/Commercial class vehicle with reasonable comfort level/Full VAT recovery under current legislation/PAYE tax on £500-00 only as still classed by revenue as commercial vehicle. Disadvantages: Poor steering lock/High fuel use (Diesel)/Poor reliability/Frequent service intervals(4500 miles)/High dealer service cost
