Big IS Beautiful.

Advantages: Very good off-road. Very good for towing. High driving position.
Disadvantages: Running costs. Pointless if it's only for using on the road.

...time favourite cars is the Mitsubishi Pajero.
This is really a Shogun, but the Pajero is the imported version, and mine came from Japan when it was five years old.

It was a 2.5 litre, intercooled, turbo, diesel, Wagon R. Often referred to as a seven-seater station wagon, and, although they look primitive and boxy compared to their newer cousins, they seem more economical then any of the later models.

Economy is ...
...of buying one of these monsters. There's no doubt that driving a gas-guzzler like this puts you on the same social level as public smokers, or using peat-based products in your garden.
So how did I, a bit of a self-confessed eco-bore, end up head over heels in love with a Pajero?

Well, I'll tell you.
I used to drive a small, economical, sensible car. One day, waiting at a red traffic light, an articulated lorry ran over ... more

Lennyman buys Another great 4x4

Advantages: Great all-round performance, style and gadgets
Disadvantages: The SWB version is too small for shopping at Tesco's

Avid reader.... You will of course know my style by now, and understand that I get a little overenthusiastic about the toys that I buy. However... This time I waited a while before writing my review, but can still say that this IS a FANTASTIC car! Let's start with why you should buy the Imported Pajero rather than it's English cousin the Shogun... First you have to understand *why* there are so many Pajero's in the UK. This started back in the ...
...were imports (other than Land Rover/Range Rover's), and normally an imported car would need 'conversion' to the UK (e.g. Swapping over of the steering wheel to the correct side etc.) This is not the case with a Pajero, as the Japanese drive on the same side of the road as us! The only changes that need to be made are; Indicator lights, Fog Lights and MPH Speedo Facia. Hence a very cheap import to convert. Secondly; Japan's 'MOT' laws make it almost ...

Best Yet

Advantages: Great driving view, goes anywhere, stylish too
Disadvantages: can be costly on diesel around town

This is the fist 4 x 4 I have ever owned - not a new one its 14 years old!! a Japanese import in immaculate condition with only 50000 kilometres on the clock. It is a 2.5 inter cooler and has so many extras compared to standard British cars I just couldn't believe it. Air conditioning/climate control, central locking, cd player, and so many gadets I've still not used them all the dashboard looks like an aeroplanes flight deck !!! Fully electric windows, ...
...through narrow gaps - great. Sun roof, adjustable suspension, seat memory, alloy wheels, over drive (not too sure how to use this yet), I love the variable speed window wipers, I use this more than any other gadet, no more squeaking window blades when the rain is not coming down too fast but fast enough for you to need to use the wipers ocassionally. All in all I am so impressed. I was persuaded to have this by my husband for using with the horses ...

PAJERO PEOPLE PROTECTOR 5 STAR MOTORING

Advantages: SAFE POWERFUL GOOD IN SNOW A WORKHORSE
Disadvantages: ROOFRACK AND MULTISTORY CAR PARKS ouch!

I have a 2.8 exceed on an N plate it was bought several years ago to replace a J plate 2.5 which was just a little underpowered but I did not notice until I bought this one! It costs £88 to fill the diesel tank from empty (tesco price £0.91 per litre) The servicing costs have been very good, on a par with a Vauxhall Combo van we also have. MPG? best yet 30/32 to the gallon generally 28MPG even with a trailer fully loaded 1 to 2 tons its still in ...
...we use this PaJero as the family transport and workhorse and I sold my thirsty Transit van and a Volvo 760 (18 MPG) estate when we bought our first Pajero so it doubles as both . The car tax increase whilst stupid does not bother me, as if I had an estate car and a Transit van my footprint would be a damn site bigger with 2 lots of tax to pay plus double insurance plus MOT's etc The only major parts that have been replaced were the front shocks ...

Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 Exceed Import

Advantages: Space, Speed, Safety and Reliability
Disadvantages: Size for city traffic

The best car ever! So much power. If you are looking for a powerful car that can last the way, this is the one. I have had not once any mechanical or electronic trouble with this vehicle. The only disadvantage I can see is the sheer size of it - not ideal for innercity parking problems and also the cost of parts ... Unfortunately, reverse and wing mirrors as well as reverse light and many other removable external parts seem to be on the top of every ...
...the manufacturer! Other than that: it has masses of space which makes it absolutely ideal for a big family , it is very reliable, it is fast and safe. Comfort comes with space in this car: never experienced more leg room in any other vehicle with exemption of the two back seats when converted into a 7-seater. Not great, even my kids struggled to squeeze in at the back. I would defenitely buy this car again given the choice!!! ...

Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8TD Exceed

Advantages: Stylish, Cheaper and better spec than Shogun, Excellent 4x4
Disadvantages: 24 mpg, dated interior

I have owned my P reg (96) Pajero for little over a year now and it is easily the best vehilce i have owned to date. Not only is the spec very high (dual region climate control, full electric windows, heated electric folding mirrors, Sun roof, electronic adjustable suspion, overdrive, alloy wheels, tilt steering wheel and more!!) I paid £9000 for it with only 30,000 miles. The first things you must do on purchase is oil and filter change (if the ...
...due to driving conditions in Japan (where most Pajeros are imported from). Its also a good idea to wax oyl the underneath as the Japs don't use salt on there roads (so i'm told) it'll protect you vehilce and needs doing about once a yr. Parts, both service and body, are readily avaialble at good prices from a large selection of companies, most of which advertise on the web. Mine has a 4 speed auto box, the manuals are very hard to come by. The ...
