This is the perfect magazine for young teenage girls. I am writing this comment using the July 11th-24th 2001 issue. It cost £1.40 and the free gift was a nail file and polish. The thing that first attracted me to this magazine when I bought it 2 or 3 years ago was its glossy front cover. - It still has that same front cover today.
On the first page inside the magazine are the contents. These are set out in list format, with afew pictures and writing for the best pages in the magazine. There is also the Editors note at the top of the page.
The next four pages are called Hot Gossip! and have info on the latest bands and celebrities. Eg. LIGHTS, CAMERA,
EMINEM. A movie starring bad boy rapper Eminem is due to start filming at the end of the summer in Detroit. The story's about a troubled rapper, who finds his voice in hip-hop. But its not Eminems life story-mmm could've fooled us! Question is-can he act? Insiders tell us that the mouthy starwon't be taking acting lessons. Why? Because they'd probably make his acting worse! Well, at least the soundtrack will be good!
Pages 8 + 9 are called Flash! This is a selection of photographs of people doing silly things, with captions and speech bubbles added to them.
The 3 pages after this are a quiz on Destinys child.
Then theres Cringe! on pages 4 and 15. This is a selection of embarrasing moments Eg. Me and my friend were in the toilets washing our hands. I went to dry them under the hand-dryer but nothing happened so I shouted "Why isn't this hand dryer working?" Everyone in the toilet started laughing at me. It turns out I was trying to dry my hands under a tampon machine! No. 1 Mizz fan, Exeter
Pages 16-18 are an interviw with Jessica Simpson.
The horscopes are on pages 20 and 21. Her is an example of one of them. LIBRA September 24th-October 23rd LOVE-He really does like you, he just has a funny way of showing it. He'll leave you in no doubt of his feelings soon! LIFE-Life may be complicated at the moment, but you need to remember honesty is always the best policy-even if it means dropping somebody in it. STORM CLOUDS-You may feel somethings going on at home but thankfully its probably not what you think. ENJOY-July 15th-20th. Jus relax, have fun and don't read into things too deeply. REMEMBER-At times you know your best friend better than yourself.
There is a Summer survival guide starting on page 22. This tells you things like how to stop you from becoming bored, and earning some money.
Page 25 has 8 reasons why its great to be a girl. Here is a couple of them... 1. You don't have to pee in front of strangers when you go to Public loos. 5. You can wear make-up to hide your spots or make yourself look better. Boys would rather eat toenails than be seen with cover-up.
Pages 26 and 27 are Mizz giveaways.
Then there are 3 pages of true stories. They are: "My modelling Nightmare" "A poltergeit haunts our house" and "My sister is dying".
There is the Atomic kitten awards on pages 32 and 3, then Hot Stuff on page 34.
Then there is the problems pages. Page 36 -life problems. Page 37 - body problems. Page 38 - a boys view and Page 39 - Picture Probs.
Next comes 6 pages of posters: Josh, Aaliyah, Jack Ryder (double page), Craig David and Suzanne from Hearsay.
The 6 pages of fashion are title Hula hula Girls.
Then comes the 2 pages of stuff thats new in the shops.
Pages 54 and 55 are called Cool It! They have a load of tips to keep cool during the summer. Eg. Tip 1 Pop your tootsies in a bowl of cold water, dry 'em off and give 'em a quick sqirt withSuperdrugs Cooling foot and leg spray, £2.29. Packed with lemon, tea tree and horse chestnut, its just the thing to perk up tired, hot feet.
There are next two pages of Fashion Extra, then Page 59 has a flow-chart quiz called What type of holiday girl are you? Page 60 is a quiz called How sun sussed are you, then there is another flow-chart called Which festival suits you on Page 61.
"txt me" is a couple of pages about who people would like to get a text message off. Eg. Craig David asking if he could dedicate a song to me. By Erin, 13
Mizz mail is on page 74, and this contains letters and tips from Mizz readers. Eg. TWICE AS NICE I just wanted to say I think MIZZ is the best magazine ever! The best issue was 414 because Eminem was in it and I'm his biggest fan. I even bought it twice! I just wanted to say thanks very much MIZZ!
The last page I am gonna write about iscalled Spooky. It is all about strange and spooky things that happen to readers or people around the world. Each issue, ther is a spell. The one in this issue is the protective parents spell.There is also letters, facts and information about feet!!
Why not buy the next issue of Mizz. I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Good review - but like Elanor I wondered why you had chosen a 3.5 year old mag to use as the review copy.

Good review. You are just older than me - and I think Mizz is a very young teens mag. Two or three years ago you would have been 16/17? Why were you attracted at that age to a 10-14 year olds magazine? Just curious x x x Jo x x x
