Now where shall I begin.........I apologise in advance but I'll try and keep a long story of our terrible experience short. If your thinking about buying a kitchen you'll do well to read this.
We needed a new Kitchen, saw a Moben showroom in our local High Street, called in, kitchens looked good, sales lady was pleasant so we booked an appointment for a salesman to visit us the next evening to draw up a plan and quote us a price. He arrived, showed us the samples, we decided upon a kitchen design and he designed it. So far so good. 'Lets talk about price' he said. After a few scriblings he jotted down a figure (£6800), turning the paper around he said 'what do you think about that?'. We thought £6800 was a lot of money for a small studio flat kitchen, which incidentally is for a property we are renting out so we chose the most basic choices in all areas to keep costs down, no luxuries whatsoever. 'Hang on a minute' he said and immediately deducted 10% for immediate on-the-night booking and deposit (Something no one in their right mind should do) then he deducted another 10% for early delivery and full payment on delivery. This early delivery means that the company drops off the full kitchen within a week or so, you then pay them the full amount and they then return at a "later date" to fit the kitchen. So basically you are paying up front for a service which could be sub-standard with little come back except to go through the court process. Another bad practice.
However this is where the nightmare begins.........
At this point my girlfriend said that we weren't happy to commit ourselves tonight as it's prudent to get some other quotes. This the guy seemed to ignore. 'Look' he said 'if you were to book it with us tonight and accept early delivery the price would reduce dramatically to £5500'. 'Ok' she said, 'but we never book anything on the night, it's just what we do just to make sure were getting the best deal'. His tirade was just warming up.........'Hang on', he insisted, 'what's the problem? you like the kitchen, your happy with everything but still you don't want to order it?' ' My girlfriend then repeated our policy. 'I can't understand it' he said his voice turning sour 'what's the big problem with you lot?, Look I feel like I have totally wasted 3 hours on you, what a waste!' Slaming his pen down on our table. At this point i should have commented, but didnt, totally stunned by what was happening. Our female tenant who attended then had to confront him. 'Look she said, shes told you 5 times now they won't book anything tonight' ' What's it got to do with you' he blurted 'your not paying for it are you???' This was too much, he was now getting aggressive and quite threatening to us all in our own home. He didn't have the brains to realise that if he had left us for a day of so we would probably have called him back and ordered the kitchen, instead he kept pushing and pushing for us to sign up on the night. After several other rude and insulting comments towards us my tenant, quite rightly, asked him to leave. We tried to help him pack his gear up..'leave that alone I can do it' he barked again not realising his totally out of order attitude. Eventually he left, and left us all shaking with rage.
To attempt to get us to purchase a Kitchen though him by pure intimidation is beyond belief.
My comment is that if this is the type of sales person Moben employ I expect them to be out of business within a few years as no-one in their right minds would put up with that kind of attiitude. Their glossy brochure attempts to hide their terrible, anti-customer, money crazed attitude.
Oh and by the way if it's too late and you've already arranged for Moben salesperson to pay you a visit and are worried it may be him his names 'David' and he covers North London.
P.S. Yes we did complain verbally to the London management, but think we should take it further to save anyone else from this hassle.
Moben is part of "The Limelight Group". This includes Kitchens Direct & Dilusso Kitchens. They also encompass Dolphin Bathrooms & Sharpes Bedrooms, as well as Portland Conservatories. Be careful dealing with any of these companies, as they are "Direct" sales companies who look for an instant decision on a sale.

That's outrageous. My mate had a Moben kitchen fitted well over a year ago and it took 6 months for them to sort out all the problems. When we were looking for a company to fit our kitchen, we avoided them like the plague. You really should inform their head office of their salesman's tactics.

OH MY GOD! And in your own house as well? Not surprised you didn't buy! I agree with some of the other comments, actually....maybe you should get this moved to Buyer Beware section? E x
