Mobil ATF

Mobil Automatic Transmission Fluid, is what you will have in your Auto gearbox, and power steering system.

Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF is a premium synthetic blend lubricant for automatic transmissions and other applications that require a fluid satisfying Ford's Mercon V specification. It is also approved for applications where a Ford Mercon type fluid is recommended. Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF is recommended by ExxonMobil for use in GM vehicles, 2005 and earlier. It is also recommended by just about every car maker worldwide.

IT YOUR VEHICLE IS MADE AFTER 2005, PLEASE NOTE!
Mobil DEXRON-VI ATF is recommended for 2006 and newer GM vehicles and for improved performance in 2005 and earlier GM vehicles, wherever DEXRON is specified. Additionally, Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF is suitable for use in both newer and older Chrysler automatic transmission applications.

It is vital that you have the correct fluid on your gearbox, and indeed in your power steering system, also of course you must have the correct amount.

Mobil fluid is designed to give :-
Long life to fluids & systems.
Good resistance to chemical deterioration.
Excellent flow properties, especially at low start-up temperatures and high operating temperatures.
Excellent lubricating characteristics for quiet operation, smooth shifting, and excellent wear protection.
Excellent viscosity stability (high viscosity index) to help assure adequate lubrication without excessive thinning in severe high-temperature service or thickening at low starting temperatures.
Dependable protection against rust and corrosion, it contains corrosion inhibitors like your central heating system.
The fluid contains a red dye, it it turns brown, then it needs changing.

It is recommended by errr, just about everyone really.

Swallowing May cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Small amounts of this product, if aspirated into the lungs, may cause mild to severe pulmonary injury, possibly death.
Inhalation Inhalation of oil mists or fumes can cause irritation fo the nose, throat and upper respiratory tract. Repeated and prolonged overexposure to oil mist may result in droplet deposition, oil granuloma formation, inflammation and increase incidence of infection.
Skin Contact May cause irritation or dermatitis with prolonged and/or repeated exposure.
Eye Contact May cause irritation.

I am reminded by Richada that it is a very effective paint stripper, keep it well away from your bodywork.

Containers are either one litre, or five litres for the trade. The one litre bottles are easy pour, .

Prices vary so much, I have seen it at £11 for a litre bottle, which is a lot more than £4 for a cheaper make (I would go for the Mobil)
