Advantages: easy to install, bets modem to use

Not quite what it seems

Advantages: Good answer/fax when you're away from home
Disadvantages: Rings when a fax comes in

I bought this modem because of it's stand alone fax and voice receive: I wanted to be able to collect both when away from home. In that respect it's fine - it takes messages and faxes while the computer is off any you're away. Where it goes wrong is the way it works when you're at home. You can set it to answer after 5 rings, giving you time to pick up the phone, but if you're too slow and pick up the phone after it's started recording there's no ...

Good solid product

Advantages: Fast, robust, compatible
Disadvantages: Slightly highly priced

This modem is the first I have found which is solid, reliable and fully compatible. I have always had trouble with modems which do not work or only work under certain conditions. 3Com provide lifetime technical support and even a lifetime warranty on their domestic modem products. Advantages: quick, easy and good value for money
Disadvantages: none

I have heard in the past that these were not as good as home broadband, but in my opinion its just as good, especially as i am in rented accomodation and there is no cable point installed already. This product was really easy to install only took about 15 minutes and it was ready to use.
