A Model Book
Review of The Model Wife - Julia Llewellyn by mummy2harry

Advantages: Good story, good twists, entertaining
Disadvantages: Poppy did whinge a LOT

I'm forever browsing Amazon for the latest book releases to try to find something new that catches my eye, and I've been lucky lately because there has been quite an influx on new books on to the market this summer! As usual, I've been keeping my local library in business lol, and the latest one I've taken out is "The Model Wife" by an author I've not read before, Julia Llewellyn. It sounded good, and I looked forward to reading it, so here's the ...
...father of 3 Luke Norton. The two begin a relationship on the sly, and accidentally Poppy falls pregnant. Luke decides to leave his wife Hannah to set up home with Poppy but soon finds out life with a young model and their newborn daughter doesn't quite match up to his twenty-year marriage. Fast forward 2 years, and Poppy's fed up of being ignored and left at home with daughter Clara so looks for a job herself. Things are not rosy in the Norton garden, ... Read review

Man and Wife - Tony Parsons
Review of Man and Wife - Tony Parsons by Sue030

Advantages: Poignant, compelling, authentic, true to life
Disadvantages: Couldnt think of any

...be an excellent continuation of Man and Boy in that it shows how clearly that meeting the next love of your life is never the end of the story. Parsons highlights the problems asociated with "blended families" in an innovative and compelling way. From the first page, where Harry is describing his marriage ceremony to Cyde, you immediately feel drawn in, you could be sat with the other guests watching the ceremony. There are so many moments that make ...
...the end where Cyde does a pregnancy test and Harry states "...... perhaps for the second time in my life, I knew why I was alive". I for one got goosebumps all over. I loved everything about this novel, the characters were authentic and it gave terrific insight into a man's mind, which is clearly helpful if unsettling to any woman. In short, if you are a big fan of chick lit, but would like to read something from a "boys" point of view, this book, ... Read review

When “Everything You Know“ is “Not a Whole Lot“
Review of Everything You Know - Zoe Heller by zoe_page

Advantages: A book that has both wicked and wickedly funny parts
Disadvantages: Somewhat forgetable

I'd read and enjoyed Notes On A Scandal before I saw this book lying around the teachers' flat in which I was then residing (in fact I'm trying to make my life a bit more Notes On A Scandal as we speak, but don't worry, all my students are adults, and older than I am). I also used to read her columns in The Sunday Times, but I hadn't heard of this earlier book until I stumbled across it. Willy Muller's life so far has been a comedy of errors. He ...
...may or may not have committed. His younger daughter has just killed herself, his older daughter has shunned her not-too-shabby upbringing for a life in one of London's finest council estates. Recovering from a heart attack, and trying to fight off the affections of not one but two girlfriends (who, of course, do not know about each other) his agent recommends a nice trip to Mexico to recuperate. To Willy, this is Not a Good Idea. Mexico is Hot. It ... Read review
