Is the world fair? Advantages: rich narrative, great source for social historins Disadvantages: lack of direction, very little plot Unless something goes drastically wrong childhood is one of the most wonderful times of our lives. We all have different experiences due to differing factors such as the time, place, religion, social class and general family values that we are brought up in. However there are many things that do not differ from a normal childhood such as that sense of wonder and confusion about the world as we take our first steps, lean our first lessons and develop ... ...do not seem to tell us the whole story so we have to discover it for ourselves. I like reading novels and autobiographies about childhood in situations that are alien to me because of the above reason. I can relate to some aspects of their lives whilst l I can learn from those that I find strange or fascinating. I Love Llewellyn! Advantages: Great easy reading fun fiction Disadvantages: Not for people who don't enjoy chick lit ...subsequently borrowed that book from the library and enjoyed it sufficiently to remember the author and look out for more of her novels. The Love Trainer is actually Llewellyn's debut novel which was first published in 2004. Sometimes reading the early work of an author you've enjoyed reading is a bit risky, as you can find that writing improves with age and experience. In this instance, I actually found The Love Trainer to be even better than The ... ...a go too. The Love Trainer is a story about Katie Wallace who, through a misunderstanding, ends up working as a cleaner for a glamourous publisher, Rebecca. As the story progresses, Katie turns out to be a pretty terrible cleaner (resulting in a few humourous episodes in the story) but does get to know Rebecca and starts to advise her on her disastrous love life. Yes Man - Book or Film Advantages: Gets you thinking a lot Disadvantages: Although based on a true story does make you wonder if its all possible ...can even say he played Yes Man very well in the movie and should be very proud, but in my opinion I think the book is a lot better. You get more of an insight of how Yes Man came about. It wasnt for a bet or a dare. No it was for one man who got so miserable with his life that he decided he wanted to change. Let's put it this way, when the movie was first released I went straight to the cinema to watch it. Although I wasnt hugely disappointed, I ... ...watched Yes Man three times since reading the book and now I am writing this review it is really making me want to read the book again. Commuting takes on a whole new meaning Advantages: Very likeable characters, can relate to the commute, romantic and funny Disadvantages: Sad ending, not as funny as more recent books by Matthews Rushing to catch the 18.07 home from platform 8, Teri is literally knocked off her feet by Jamie Duncan. He comes to her rescue and is her knight in shining armour taking care of her bleeding knee and buying her some new tights. As well as being her hero and the perfect gentleman, Jamie is also unbelievably sexy and Teri can't help falling for him.
