For those who are searching
Review of Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami by
aristocat
Advantages: an interesting book
Disadvantages: not the best by Murakami though
When I read Norwegian Wood I had already read The Wind up Bird Chronicle and loved it. So I was a little bit disappointed because I did not find in Norwegian Wood the fantastic and surrealistic atmosphere I found In the former book. Anyhow, Norwegian Wood is a book to be read by those who are searching. I find that the reader might sympathise with the characters... who are each one of them in search of their own life and personality. All of it with ...

Divine Edward
Review of Twilight - Stephenie Meyer by
Happyjaw
Advantages: Bliss in printed paper
Disadvantages: The book eventually ends
I had bought this without planning to, I was searching for something bubblegum, by that I mean easy to deal with, something ongoing but interesting but not too hard. There was an offer on on my local WH Smith and having found one book I fancied completing the deal with a half price book.
The picture drew me first, those pale hands gently clasping the perfectly red apple. It drew me far enough to pick the book up to read the back, which in turn made ... ...I'm not one to shun teen fiction just because I'm a fully grown adult, after all, the ingenuity of Harry Potter and the whole His Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullman are aimed at young adults. They also warranted films and spin off books, a huge inernational following and fan clubs all over the internet.
Stephenie Meyer gives the impression she wrote this story because it needed telling and frankly it comes across that way. It is honest in ...

Persevere and you will be rewarded
Review of Brick Lane - Monica Ali by
supermanj
Advantages: Good portrayal of immigrant lifestyles, compelling at times and thought provoking
Disadvantages: Not a page turner at times.
When beginning to read Brick Lane, the writing style seemed pretentious, almost mocking. But persevering with the book you have to look within the different layers to really feel the story. The idea isn't the most original but there is something about this book that makes it a compelling read. Sometimes hard going but stick with it and you will not be disappointed. This is a very accurate and evidently well researched portrayal of past Bangladeshi ...

THIS CHARMING MAN BY MARIAN KEYES
Review of This Charming Man - Marian Keyes by
barb1263
Advantages: GREAT READ FROM A GREAT AUTHOR
Disadvantages: NON THAT I CAN SEE
...reading.
The author writes this in sections about each character. She gives each one a past, a present and a future. This is, in my opinian, is a great way of keeping the interest going.
The story tackles, not only life in a violant relationship, but the aftermath of such and how different that can be for everyone. I felt that the characters in the book were very realistic as were their circumstances. Marian Keyes is the kind of writer who really ... ...sorry if I seem a little vague on the storyline but I really don't want to ruin this for anyone it is deffinatly worth the read.
Marian Keyes is a very tallented writer and having read all her books I would recomend this one as highly as the others. ...

Amazingly diverse vampire tale
Review of Twilight - Stephenie Meyer by
gotahavalittlfaith
Advantages: so many views in the book
Disadvantages: descriptions of isabellas days can get boring
...read the first paragraph of twilight i was hooked. romance lovers and fantasy lovers alike will love this vivid tale of love , sorrow and power.
The book has a two sided view of vampires which is unusual as they are normally portrayed as evil but it twilight they are so diverse in their beleifs and ways of life they have the complexity of human beings and stephanie meyer has treated vampires as people and not just as creatures.
The story is not ... ...rivalries in the book so dont worry its not just a sappy love story there is something in there for the more bloodthirsty of us!
Stephanie meyers portryal of edwards and isabellas love trials are truely a not to be missed to all ages and all types of book fans. ...
