Duma Key - Stephen King Advantages: Great read Disadvantages: slow starting Duma Key = We follow Edgar Freemantle who initially comes across as an unlikable character. This it turns out is due in part to a car accident he earlier had and also a shift in his personality. He loses an arm in the accident and this causes further angry outbursts. His wife leaves him before he hurts her and this only adds to his ugly characterisation. He ups sticks and moves to Florida, A place called Duma Key. Once here he begins to ... ...fear that his sketches begin to generate builds slowly and is well laid out. His drawings uncover some startling truths and horrible revelations from the past. The old lady is not as kindly as she first appears, what has happened to the twin sisters? And who will finally snap and take action against his 'Art'. This is a decent book but not in the league of 'cell' or James Herberts 'Secret of Crickley Hall' but it is a god read. The writing is excellent ... Red Pony- John Steinbeck Advantages: Great Description and plot. Disadvantages: Front cover could be more entreging apart from that its a great book. ...describes everything so fully and life like so you can really relate to whats happening. I would recommend this book to anyone from the age of ten - us long as you can read. It is truelly a great storey, you should really consider reading it if you haven't allready. ... Operation Boring Advantages: Some slight humour Disadvantages: Characters and Plot is unrealistic and there isnt too much depth to it ...to expect when I read Operation Sunshine as I couldn’t compare it to any of her other books. Jenny Colgan has written quite a few books and from what I gather mostly all of her books are Chic Lit. Even although i had never read any of her books before I had heard of a few of her more popular ones such as Amanda’s Wedding, West End Girl’s and the most recent Diamond’s are a Girl’s best friend. Operation Sunshine was released in June 2008 prior to ... ...Operation Sunshine is a book about 20 something Evie, who is a pretty average girl from the way she is described in the book. She works as a receptionist for 2 plastic surgeons in a Harley Street Clinic, where there are lots of people of all ages coming and going for major/minor tweaks here and there. Second book in the Twilight saga - loads of teen angst Advantages: good follow up - easy to read Disadvantages: none New Moon is the second book in the highly successful Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer and soon to be a feature film released in cinemas. This book starts off where Twilight finished with human school girl Bella and the love of her life vampire Edward entwined in a romance. But as with most complicated relationships the path to true love is seldom easy, and this is particulalry true of vampire love and all the complications and life threatening dangers ... ...lifetime or more! I enjoyed New Moon more than Twilight and now look forward to reading the next two books in the saga - Eclipse and Breaking Down. For every teenage girl this is a must and for all of us who wish to remain youthful at least in spirit give it a go.
