Every second chapter digresses from the narrative, to seemingly unrelated topics such as what happens when you die (you rot) and fairies. However this digression lets the reader futher into the way Christopher's mind works, making the reader really warm to him as a person. Fabulous Advantages: beautiful book Disadvantages: none On reading the back of the book i wasn't sure how much i would enjoy it, the content seemed like a heavy and sentimental read! However several of my few friends had thouroughy recommended it. And boy were they right this is a beautifully written book that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster sometimes upsetting and on other occasions happy and funny. The Island is not worth it's hype Advantages: Good escapism Disadvantages: hackneyed plot, not believable ...this book in desparartion at the library having run out of books to read.
