Every man women and child must read "The Curious Incident..."
Advantages: Easy to read, facinating and funny Disadvantages: Having dinner too late because you couldn't stop reading until you finish it!
...can roll of an all the countries of the world and their capitals as well as very prime number up to 7057 without a second thought. Christopher has a very strict regime, and stange habits, likes and dislikes. He loves maths, small spaces and the truth while detesting yellow, brown and being touched. Upon finding a neighbour's dog murdered in it's back yard, Christopher is determined to resolve the mystery, unaware what else he will unravel in the ... ...by the way he numbered the chapters- using only prime numbers (numbers only divisble by itself and one, eg. 2,3,5,7,11). Every second chapter digresses from the narrative, to seemingly unrelated topics such as what happens when you die (you rot) and fairies. However this digression lets the reader futher into the way Christopher's mind works, making the reader really warm to him as a person. The plot is very engaging, and I read it all in one sitting. ...

Has Anyone Seen John?
Advantages: Short, sweet piece of folklore. Disadvantages: A little sad in places.
...none of us own him. Red Dog is such an animal; he belongs to everyone. And yet, he belongs to no one. Red Dog, though, has more than a tiny village in Devon at his disposal. Red Dog has the vast expanses of Western Australia in which to indulge his restless spirit. Possessed of boundless energy, an inquisitive soul and an independent streak a mile wide, Red Dog is famous in the community. When the travelling bug bites, he goes to the bus station, ... ...turns him down. He is Red Dog, after all. Red Dog's travelling is legendary, but so too is his appetite. He has been known to wolf an entire can of dog food in under nine seconds, although he prefers to filch sausages and steaks from those ubiquitous Australian barbies.
Louis de Bernieres' book traces its eponymous hero through anecdote and memory. For Red Dog was a real dog. Inspired by a bronze statue of him in the town where he lived, de Bernieres ...

Lord of the flies..Is it for me.?
Advantages: Cleverly written Disadvantages: Sometimes hard to follow, need good understanding
LOrd of the flies, an award winning book, aknowledged by many, is a book a very few teenagers like. You start to appreciate the book, once when you have read it and start comparing the style of writing and the actual story. The characters involved are boys aged 7 -12 stranded on a desert island,, during the war, but the book is a microcosm of what happens in the real world, with adults and Golding expertly demonstrates the problem of power in the ...

Can Langdon find the Lost Symbol?
Advantages: Fast paced Disadvantages: last 50 or so pages
'The Lost Symbol is the latest offering from Dan Brown featuring Harvard Symbologist Robert Langdon and like all avid readers of his work I was looking forward to reading the book. - At 6am on a Sunday morning Robert Langdon receives a message from his mentor and friend, prominent 33rd Degree Mason Peter Solomon, to conduct a lecture in Washington’s Capitol Building and not wanting to let his friend down Langdon agrees to go and sets off for ... ...However on arrival at the Rotunda area within the Capitol Building, something strikes Langdon as odd, there is nobody waiting there for the lecture. Believing he is in the wrong building Langdon is set to walk about but is interrupted by a commotion, on looking on what the problem is, it seems that somebody has left a strategically placed hand on the floor, however on closer looks Langdon receives a shock, he recognises the Masonic ring on a finger ...

Fabulous
Advantages: beautiful book Disadvantages: none
On reading the back of the book i wasn't sure how much i would enjoy it, the content seemed like a heavy and sentimental read! However several of my few friends had thouroughy recommended it. And boy were they right this is a beautifully written book that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster sometimes upsetting and on other occasions happy and funny. The story is narrated by teenager Susie Salmon, who is dead after being brutally raped and murdered. ...
