A lofty pedigree indeed, so what made these great minds choose such an unassuming little black book, and why should you choose one today?
I actually started with Moleskines when I received one of their diaries for Christmas, and finding it ... ...notebook. I run a couple of websites, one of which is an online monthly magazine, and find the need to jot down thoughts, and start writing article introductions, straight away lest I forget what was going through my head.

A lofty pedigree indeed, so what made these great minds choose such an unassuming little black book, and why should you choose one today?
I actually started with Moleskines when I received one of their diaries for Christmas, and finding it a handy little thing decided to branch out with a notebook. I run a couple of websites, one of which is an online monthly magazine, and find the need to jot down thoughts, and start writing article introductions, straight away lest I forget what was going through my head.
At a diminutive 9x14cm this notebook easily slips inside a coat pocket, with the 192 lined pages proving enough to get a huge amount of thought onto the written page. The book itself is virtually bombproof - I carry it every single day in a bag where it gets knocked around constantly, and forever retains it's shape. The elastic closure keeps everything neat and tidy, and the spine stands up to repeated openings and laying flat to write.
The integral ribbon bookmark proves particularly useful as well, and at the back is a small pocket where I can store business cards I get from people I'm speaking to. A true jack-of-all-trades.
Sitting in a pocket it causes no discomfort with its rounded corners, and without sharp 90 degree edges the leather biding doesn't wear or tear. The binding also stands up to being banged about (see the comment above about it living in my bag) and the small indentations and marks, removing none of the black cover, merely add to the character and truly make you feel like you ARE Hemingway.
This may seem a lot of money (cost me £6) for such a small notebook, but for one which retains its shape, and your scribbled thoughts, you really can\'t do any better, and there's something in the romantic notion of actually writing something down instead of typing into a PDA.
