Is Jacques Bistro just brilliant?

Advantages: Fantastic food and great menu
Disadvantages: None

where taken directly to our table as it was ready. The tables and chairs are all rustic wood style and does give the restaurant a nice cosy uniformed feel, the décor is welcoming with cream walls that are covered in lots of French prints and scripted writing on the walls also, not too much just one or two lines of writing around the pictures which really adds to the French Bistro feel. The floor is also wooden but not so polished that you would slip on shoes with no grip on them. We had an early booking for our meal, 5 pm as we where off the theatre that evening, having such an early booking we could take advantage of the Theatre menu that is available at a set price of £10.95 per person. For this you get a three course meal with a good choice available for each course. For our visit we had a good choice of starter, Soup of day ...

Rick Stein's St. Petroc's Bistro

Advantages: Smart eating in friendly atmosphere
Disadvantages: Need to book well in advance and slow service

Rick Steins St Petroc's Bistro - Cornwall Rick Stein and Padstow in Cornwall are synonymous with one another. He has four restaurants in the small harbour town and is probably responsible for there being many other excellent places to eat there. At the top of the tree is Stein's flagship: The Seafood Restaurant. Opened in 1975 this restaurant is the heart of the Stein empire. Next up is St. Petroc's Bistro, more accessibly priced with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. He also has Rick Stein's Café and Stein's Fish and Chips. If you enjoy eating out in good restaurants, and are in Cornwall, a trip to Padstow is a must. In addition to the restaurants, Stein also has a well stocked gift shop / deli on the habourside. St Petroc's Bistro is sited in an unpretentious building on New Street, a short walk from the harbour front. The white ...

Review of St. Petroc's Bistro

Bistro 1, No 1 for value

Advantages: bargain prices, good location, nice food
Disadvantages: portions might be small for some people, mix up with our order

. The décor seemed quite plain and understated and there are tables outside to sit and watch the world go by which would be lovely on a sunny summer day. I did find the tables quite packed together so there was not much room to move about. I am not sure if this would be good for a really intimate dinner as someone might easily overhear your sweet nothings. There was a bowl of tasty fresh seeded bread and yummy olives on the table ready for us to pick at before we settled down to eat proper. The good thing about Bistro 1 is that there are no ala carte menus. The set dinner menu is £8.90 for two courses and £9.90 for three. If you are in the area for lunch the prices are even lower. You can get two courses for £6.50 and three for £7.50. This is a bargain when you consider you can spend £3 or £4 on a sandwich. (There is a £2 supplement for four ...
