We've just moved into a smaller house so my computer gear had to squeeze into a smaller space. I looked around at LCD monitors and found this one on DABS.COM. I was attracted by the relatively low price and the fact that it had speakers built in. I've always been impressed with DABS so their recommendation of this monitor made me decide to place an order. It's probably not the best quality monitor in the world. I've not used a huge number of LCDs ...
...say I have been delighted with this one. It was Plug and Play to set up and works faultlessly with my three PCs via a KVM switch, adjusting it's resolution accordingly to optimise the picure. To be honest, I've not had to use the four adjustment buttons which are mounted on the front panel - everything seems to be set up fairly optimally out of the box. Advantages: Stylish space saver
Disadvantages: For those who like black and grey

...and grey design and this AOC 15" TFT monitor was part of the deal. It looks great and displays krisp colours with an optimal resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. It displays 16.7 million colours and has included speakers. Installation is easy and external speakers or headphones can be plugged in at the back of the screen. It only weighs 3.5 kg (7.6 lb) and when moving flats I just had to wrap it in a blanket and grab it under my arm. What a difference ... Read review

Disadvantages: Doesn't exist anymore, Bigger compared to newer monitors

...monitor is great for gaming and watching DVD's, much better than any CRT screen. After 2 years of bad treatment it still works and amazingly it still has no dead pixels! If anyone is looking for a cheap flat screen monitor, I highly reccomend the AOC LM-500! :) ... Read review

I have used a 17" CRT and a 15" TFT screen before this - so I had a good idea what to look for and had to think long and hard about my budget. In the end I decided it was better to spend enough for a screen that would meet my needs for the forseeable future, although this meant waiting until I could afford it. TFT screens have come down in price a little - and this one includes some extras you may not necessarily expect, plus it is really well designed ...
...worked right away with the existing drivers and it was easy to install the supplied driver. Cable routing was tricky to see at first, until I removed a second panel - after that it was so neat the back of the monitor looked almost as good as the front! I bought two of these monitors in May 2003 when setting up my office, the only difference from the picture being that mine have silver cabinets. A year on, they both still perform superbly and the only minor complaint that I can think of is that there are no integrated speakers.
