Long term review of an excellent screen
Review of ThinkVision L180p by
MoltenJules
Advantages: Quality, design and performance
Disadvantages: Expensive when new
I bought (or more precisely leased through the Home Computer Initiative) two of these screens for my own use.
Their styling is smart with a thin bezel around the screen. Image quality has always been great and they have had no faults. The native resolution (1280 x 1024) is very good and the ability for each screen to have two inputs is great when you have to work on a few PCs at a time.
Each screen will support a standard VGA input or a digital ... ...of one button on the bottom front edge of the screen.
The standard aupport is gas assisted and covers a good range of height whilst its swivel design allows the screen to be rotated whilst the base on the desk stays firmly routed on the desk.
It has some well positioned hooks in the support which keep the cables tidy even when the screen is adjusted for height or attitude.
Recently I wall mounted them and used the standard plates at the back to ...

like a tank
Review of ThinkVision L150 by
Orintex
Advantages: clear images, reliable.
Disadvantages: external power supply; it's only 15"
I've been using the IBM L150 in work for a while now, so I reckon I'm in a good position to write a review.
The overall appearance is simple and functional. All the connectors are concealed within the case, keeping the appearance tidy, though it was a bit fiddly setting it up - but then I only had to do that once!
The power supply isn't built in, it's an external trailing lead jobbie, which means long cables and an unsightly black box which has ... ...simple to use, with four buttons - menu, left, right and enter. (oh, and there's an on/off button too!) allowing easy access to the usual brightnes, contrast, colour and position options. There's also an option to change the language to english, german, spanish, french or italian; and a useful 'information' option which displays screen resolution and refresh rate.
Using it for work means it's used between eight and ten hours a day, every day. I ...

Normally reliable
Review of IBM 494A by
WAD1-2-3
Advantages: normall reliable
Disadvantages: keeps on going blank
I have had my IBM monitor for about two years now and I keep on experiencing a rather strange problem, the monitor keeps on going blank and then clicking back on. I have tried the fact it could be down to electrical overdose of the plugs, but that hasn’t fixed it (as my friends calls it-when ou have to many sockets on one adapter).
The monitor has been fine and I have had no complaints with it. It’s big, got some good setting facilities.

Samsung for your PC
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 931BF by
rob1001
Advantages: Great quick picture
Disadvantages: Perhaps too small!
...reviews I own both a Samsung TV and a Samsung DVD player. Itseemed only right to have a monitor aswel!
I do a lot of gaming on the PC and for that I like to be closer to the screen rather than using my TV as a computer monitor. For these purposes it is ideal to have a decent monitor. This model is 19" which is slightly bigger than your average monitor (Which I would say is 17") Being 19" it is big enough to give a better piture but still retains ... ...Check my review on the Samsung tele if all this speaks to you! The monitor isnt very sexy looking. Thereare some gorgeous Samsung monitors out there but there isnt much point paying more for looks. If 19" seems a bit small to you then I would suggest having a look in a shop. It may suprose you but you may still prefer a 22" widescreen monitor, which I would too there just a bit expensive for a decent one :) ...

22" of visual satisfaction
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW by
theenglishviet
Advantages: Bright, crisp display, widescreen, top specs
Disadvantages: no height adjustment.
...photoshopping etc. Anyway, Samsung has always been considered a very well known brand in the world of computer displays. This model, the Syncmaster 2253BW is among the last line of Samsung displays where they actually build their own TFT panels. So for less than £150 from Dabs, I thought I'd snap it up, especially considering the specs that came with it.
In short, the important specs:
22" widescreen
DVI and VGA inputs (with HDCP)
1000:1 (8000:1 ... ...resoultion
First impressions are that this is not a rather large monitor, it is also rather good looking. The thin black gloss bezel around the main display is complemented by a nice clear plastic along the bottom, of which the control buttons are behind and power light is reflected onto. This blue power LED is rather bright and can get distracting at times, although it is very useful if you have left your monitor on without knowing as it blinks ...
