What makes a monologue? Thank goodness, monologue is posted in my browser, it is late and I am tired of using the dictionary. Sometimes I feel like Diane Court from Say Anything when checking off words in the dictionary I looked up. Perhaps we have different motivations but my dictionary is as utilized. I also don't have the body of a game show hostess.
Such a sucker at spelling am I. It’s disgraceful really, especially looking back at my high school work. The brightness of red, blazing all over my papers. But we all can't be perfect; I will never know why I decided to be a writer. What happened to my drama dreams? I guess writing is more practical, and you don't have to perform any monologues. Now you are the one writing them, making a rthyem with your words, a flow, a punch. Wishing you knew how to spell rhythm right. Wondering why, rhythm is so hard to spell? Then you realize it’s that silent H and you can feel better, maybe you are a poor speller, but you at least didn't invent the English language.Though I can respect the need to create work for oneself. I do it all the time; I am doing it right now. I think it stems from the need to escape something else, but I’m not much of shrink either. In fact, I truly need air traffic control to guide the traffic on the runways of my mind. I really have tried to work on my bad habit of giving people whiplash with my topic jumping.
Nevertheless, I respect a good monologue, even if I am unsure of what makes one.
