Advantages Fun for all even if it does get a bit "rough"

Disadvantages can go on and on if you are loosing!

This is an all time favourite game for all generations and all generations can play it together.

Monopoly is famous the world over but for anyone who does not know this game I will try and explain this game.

It is a game of buying, renting and selling properties. This will make you rich and the richest wins.

On the English board you start with go and the properties are in the London area Old Kent Road, Community Chest, Whitechapel Road, Income Tax (pay £200) Kings Cross Station, The Angel, Islington, Chance, Euston Road, Pentonville Road, In Jail/just visiting, Pall Mall, Electric Company, Whitehall, Northumberland Avenue, Marylebone Station, Bow Street, Community Chest, Marlborough Street, Vine Street, Free parking. (red) Strand, Chance, Fleet Street, Trafalgar Square, Fenchurch St. Station, (yellow) Leicester Square, Coventry Street, Water works, Picadilly, Go to Jail, (green) Regent Street, Oxford Street, Community Street, Bond Street, Liverpool St Station, Chance, and then the two Best Park Lane, super tax pay £100 and Mayfair.

You have a board with title deed cards, 10 playing tokens, 16 chance cards, 16 community cards, lorra lorra money houses, hotels and dice.

You start at go and move the total of the two dice. When you land on a property you have the chance to buy it if no one else has. If you own all the colours in that row then the rent is doubled plus you can buy first houses and when you have 4 you can buy hotels.

If you need money which you almost certainly will at some point in the game you can mortgage your property.

If you land on a Chance or community you obey the instructions on the card. This can be anything from paying school fees, someones birthday or even receiving dividends etc.

You have a banker, this is the person who looks after the money.

You start with 2 x £500 4 x £100, 1 x £50, 1 x £20 2 x £10, 1 x £5 and 5 x £1

Careful if you throw 3 doubles as you can land in Jail and have to throw a double to get out or pay £50.

Every time you pass go you will be given £200

Landing on someones property you pay rent but if they land on yours they pay you. If you are in jail though you cannot collect rent.

This is a good game as you can play it long time, or short time. As long as all the players know which game and what rules you have you can basically play it as you wish. It does sound complicated but once you start playing it you will get rufless and mean and enjoy it.

We get Monopoly out when it is bank/holiday time and it is great to have all the family together playing this game.

What we do is either put a time limit on it or if someone is feeling realy rufless then we play for so long that day and put the board up so no one can touch it putting each players money in a little poly bag and then continuing the next day. This makes for a great game.

We do have a rule though where my daughter if she lands on a property of her Dads sheTT doesnt get around him to pay the rent when she has more cash! Well we want it to be a game dont we not reality!

The game is by Waddingtons and you will find now that a lot of people are beginning to bring a countries monopoly game home with them when they go abroad. We have an American one and it is good fun to play with mostly the only difference being the names on the properties.
