Monopoly

I wonder if there is anyone out there that hasn't played Monopoly. I think I first played this when I was about 9 years old and used to go in the huff with my dad when I didn't win!! When I think of the concept of this game it doesn't exactly sound exciting I think - going around a board time and time again but it is fun I think. There has been different versions of the original Monopoly game out over the years - theme ones and different cities but it is just the original one I have played and had no interest in playing any of the other ones.

In the box there is this board which folds out. There is little plastic houses, plastic Hotels, cards, money, dice and counters. So what is the idea of this game?

Well each player starts with a set amount of money. The idea of the game is to roll the dice and go around the board collecting money, paying out money and buying property. Each time you make a lap of the Board you get £200 and you use the money to buy the property or pay out fees. What would you be using the money to pay fees on? Well If you land on 1 certain square you go to jail so you can either stay in jail until you Roll double on the dice or you can pay to get out. Also there is Chance and Community chest Cards and these can gain you money or cost you money. When you land on a proprty you can choose to buy it and whenever another player lands on your property then they have to pay you rent. If you add houses or a Hotel onto the property then the cost that the other players must pay you gets a lot higher.

A game of this can last absolutely ages and we've seen ourselves carrying on a game for days. The game is finally over when there is no more money in the bank and all the players are out of money apart from 1 - the winner.

A good fun board game which may appeal to all different age groups.
