The packaging:
This product comes in a generously sized 40g/1.4oz sachet. There is ample product in the sachet to do the whole of both of my thighs, which are my no means skinny, and even the lower part of my bottom. The sachet is easy to open, it has a little slit in the side where you tear the top part off, and you won't need to resort to scissors! The packaging is brightly coloured in pink and blue with a picture of a happy looking woman on the front enjoying using the product. There is a fair bit of information on the back of the sachet, including some blurb about the product and it's effects, and directions, as well as ingredients. The only problem is it's a bit hard to read as the sachet is pink yet the writing is white with a dark pink outline. On the plus side though, it's all written in English, French and German.
How to use:
The directions given on the packet are, 'Gently massage a generous amount of mud onto your skin on & around the problem areas. Leave on for 15-20 mins then rinse with water'. There's not really much to add to that, to be honest! That's exactly what i did! I simply applied mine with my hands, which was quite fun, like when you're a kid and like to play with mud.It definately takes more like 20 than 15 minutes to dry, though. You may want to reserve the bathroom for at least half an hour in total in order to leave time to apply it, wait for it to work then wash it off. I would suggest using this product before you are due to take a shower, as it is a bit messy to get off and takes a fair bit of showering. Definately not to be rinsed off in the bath, though i haven't tried this but would'nt suggest you do either! I don't think it matters if the water is hot or cold, so long as you rinse it off thoroughly. You may feel a warming and raising of the skins surface when rinsing, or in case case a not unpleasant tingling, and the packet does warm you about this. I assume it's just the product taking effect. I don't think it would affect sensitive skin too much, though you may want to do a patch test first to be on the safe side!
The effect of the product:
The blurb on the front says it's 'skin firming & toning for silky smooth legs and bottom', and on the back it says 'do you want to fight the appearance of cellulite on you problem areas? Our renowned Algae & Dead Sea Salt Cellulite Mud Mask treatment helps improve skin elasticity, firmness & tone, whilest application can stimulate circulation and detoxify the skin leaving it soft, clearer and smoother'. So is this really ture? Well, after one application i can say that my skin certainly felt different, definately smoother and possibly a bit firmer and more toned, and it certainly left my skin, thighs and lower bottom feeling kind of tingly and like the product had had some effect. I can't say i noticed any immediate reduction in cellulite, though i do have rather a lot to combat! I think you would have to use this product several times before noticing any real difference. Having said that it was quite pampering and felt like i was treating myself. I would use it again.
The smell, look & feel:
Well, it smelt kind of muddy really! But like the smell of clean mud (if such a thing exists!), rather than the smell of mud you might find in your back garden. Certainly not an offensive smell at all, fairly neutral and it doesn't leave your skin smelling of anything ocne you've washed it off. It's looks, well like clean brown mud! That's all you can really say about it. It's smooth and fairly thick, but easy to apply at the same time. It's fairly cool to the touch. It does slightly change colour when drying, which is helpful as it's a good guide as to when you're ready to wash the product off.
The ingredients:
This product contains algae (seaweed to you and me) and dead seat salt mud and other minerals. The sachet, as i mentioned earlier, details a full list of ingredients.
Animal Testing Policy:
At the top of the sachet on the back this product displays the vegetarian society approved symbol, so is suitable for use by vegetarians. There is also a symbol on the back of the sachet at the top which says against animal testing.
Complementary products by the same company:
Montagne Jeunesse also another products in their Body range that would go well with this one and complement it, which is the Firming (breast) Gel (review to come soon!). I would definately suggest using the two at the same time, though you might wasn to wash your hand in between!
Value for money:
Fairly good value! It's a good quality product that is worth the money just so you can pamper yourself, though you may have to splash out on a few sachets and keep using the product to notice and maintain any real benefit/improvement to your cellulite.
Summary:
You should use this product when you fancy a bit of a pamper and want you thighs and bottom to feel a bit firmer and smoother. I'd definately recommend anyone to try this product at least once!
