Gimmee Moore

Advantages: Some really poignant songs
Disadvantages: None really

Christy Moore - Ride On. 1984. I have long been a fan of Irish music, and a fan of protest songs, from John Lennon to The Clash, so it is fair to say that I have a fair collection of Irish protest music, some of which has a distinctly anti-British feel. Before anyone slates me for writing a review of well known IRA sympathisers' songs, many of which are very supportive of the IRA cause, let me say this. Like it or not, there has been a conflict between the British and Irish for hundreds of years, and the troubles of the 70's and 80's were not new. It was inevitable that songs would be written, and inevitable that whoever wrote them would have a subjective slant. This album is not just about the IRA by the way, it also chronicles other 'struggles' such as the Spanish Civil War and the El Salvador conflicts. Moore himself ...

Give me Moore, any day!

Advantages: attractive, plot, characters
Disadvantages: /

The latest book to head my way is none other than 'RSPV', written by author Tara Moore. Now when I first saw the book I had no idea what it was going to be like. I had never heard of Tara Moore before so her style was going to be completely new to me. However, the cover of the book itself is incredibly attractive. All we see is the neck and lower face of a woman, with a large glittering necklace around her neck. Now for ages I thought this read 'RSUP', and it wasn't until I went to find out more about the author before reading did I realise that this necklace actually read 'RSVP'. With that embarrassment out of the way, I was truly looking forward to reading. The book tells the story of fiancées Rossa Granville and Ashling Morrison. Happily in love and planning their wedding, a problem arises almost instantly. First of all, Rossa ...

Review of RSVP - Tara Moore

Moss Bros: a good choice for wedding suit hire

Advantages: friendly staff, reasonable prices, suits all matched and fitted
Disadvantages: not able to see all suits in store, not cheap if needing to return to different store

**This review deals only with using Moss Bros for suit hire, not purchase** My first encounter with Moss Bros was a fortnight before my wedding. I had assigned my husband-to-be just one task in the run up to our big day: hire suits for the 4 ushers and the best man. Inevitably, as we went through a final list of things needed for the wedding, he looked sheepish and confessed that he had got as far as a list of chest, neck, waist and leg sizes (which he subsequently proudly produced scrawled on the back of a beer mat) but hadn't got as far as a shop to hire the suits from. I decided perhaps this one task was one task too much, so took the beer mat and headed off to my nearest branch of Moss Bros. This review is therefore focused on Moss Bros for hiring suits. First Impressions The Moss Bros shop I went into was clean, tidy and light ...
