Modern Organic Products (MOP) are a hair and body care range that was launched in 1998 use certified organic and food-derived ingredients which work to cleanse and moisturise the hair in a gentle and healthy way. We now don't have to compromise effective products with natural ingredients, and vice versa.
The ingredients list on each of the bottles reads like a recipe! Those ingredients in the list that are certified organic are marked with an asterisk and all of the fragrances are created by the natural ingredients, not artificial additions. MOP never test on animals and every product is suitable for pregnant women. Some products such as those in the Pear range are particularly good for children.
There are three ranges: Core, C-System and Glisten (see other reviews). Extreme protein is part of the Core range which is simplified hair (and body) care catered to your specific needs such as Basil Mint for dry, flaky scalp, lemongrass for fine hair, mixed greens for dry, porous hair and all of the styling products including the two intensive treatments, extreme protein and extreme moisture.
Extreme protein is a treatment designed for weak and damaged hair and is intended to increase elasticity and strength to reduce splitting and breaking. It a is 200ml tube for about £9.00ish.
It contains certified organic olive oil which treats dried out hair and increases elasticity, certified organic oatflour to add thickness (presumably giving more resilience) and certified organic black beans which have the greatest source of protein of all vegetables to conditone hair, repair and add strength.
As most intensive treatments are, it is recommended to be used on a weekly basis. You can either use it on its own as a protein treatment or mix with an equal amount of extreme moisture for a really great boost. Shampoo and rinse and then apply a small amount building up and working through hair. The tube actually says wait 5-10 minutes before rinsing but i prefer to wrap a towel around my hair and leave it on overnight and then rinse it off in the morning. It has a lot of ingredients that are typically green in colour so dont be alarmed by the green colour of it! It also has little black bits in it which are the chopped up black beans so you can see how natural it is!
It is a really good treatment. Out of the two i prefer extreme moisture as you can actually tell thats worked by the softness if its felt dry. You dont actually get any immediate effects from this one as its strengthening and i would guess that it needs to be used regularly. Also, its treating a different problem so don't expect your hair to actually feel soft because its the treatment for damaged hair rather than dry. As you may know if you've used strong protein treaments before, they can be drying (which this isnt!) but theyre not meant to be moisturising.
Im a bit undecided on the smell because its a hard to describe, maybe like clay and it does look a bit like a face mask! But i like this because its a natural way to put protein and strength back into your hair. Plus 200ml tube lasts ages even if you trowel it on. Id recommend using the two extreme treatments together for a real treat :)
And so on to stage 2 of my hair prep of a morning.....!
