Modern Organic Products (MOP) are a hair and body care range that was launched in 1998 use certified organic and food-derived ingredients which work to cleanse and moisturise the hair in a gentle and healthy way. We now don't have to compromise effective products with natural ingredients, and vice versa.
The ingredients list on each of the bottles reads like a recipe! Those ingredients in the list that are certified organic are marked with an asterisk and all of the fragrances are created by the natural ingredients, not artificial additions. MOP never test on animals and every product is suitable for pregnant women. Some products such as those in the Pear range are particularly good for children.
The Glisten range is aimed at people with chemically treated hair or those who just want their hair to be shinier as it aims to add volume and lots of shine. It is made with certified orange extract so most of the products in the range have a soft orange aroma.
The Volumising Spray is again of the Glisten styling range and is a pump action spray 250 ml bottle for the usual MOP price! £8-£9ish. As you've guessed it, the volumising spray is intended to create fullness in dull, limp and lifeless hair. I love the big, voluminous hair look so i like trying different volume boosting products out!
It contains certified organic lemongrass which is an antioxidant, anti-irritant and anti-bacterial to soothe, certified organic soybean which contains natural resins to provide the hold element and biotin which can help with hair growth. Also contains vitamins a and e to provide UV protection and wheat protein.
The application advice that is given is to apply on wet hair to the roots and then come throughout the hair before blow-drying.
Firstly, its called a spray but it comes out like a spritz because its so sticky which doesn't really help with distributing it even. The smell is also very noticeable when you are applying it and it is awfully cloying, like and this sickly sweet geranium and this remains in the hair.
Its practically hairspray, that is the exact sticky consistency and it seems act in the same way. When you apply it and it dries, its like you have applied hairspray to the roots. And imagine trying to comb that throughout your hair?
My hair is fragile and breaks quite easily if i'm rough with it and even just trying to comb it i could actually see the little bits of hair chipping off so don't plan on trying to comb/brush your hair again til you've washed it out!
I have used in maybe once or twice since the first time, but i've asked used in the way i would hairspray, just the slightest bit in dry hair at the roots as i know it will try and go hard and give a bit of lift. But then by using it undiluted, the smell is even stronger!
The product i think lets MOP down and if you purchased this product first thinking it was an organic/natural range, i don't think you'd buy anything else. I mean obviously kind of sprays always have some form of alcohol in and they can be quite drying, but this seems to be no more natural/kinder than the rest. And stuff like Tigi Queen for a day are actually less sticky and stiff and gentler on the hair.
