...good products to tame this mop of mine and keep it in order.
I want to be a faithful curly girl....but it seems nothing could satisfy my very demanding locks. So onwards I searched for the perfect product.
At last....my search is over.

MOP will post you your very well packaged goods, free of charge by a 2 - 3 day carrier, if you spend more than £35. They have a pretty good range of products and around 4 or 5 products will take you to that £35. But don't be frightened off by that price tag. The products last and they DO ACTUALLY WORK.

For those of you who have followed my reviews - and for those who have seen my picture - you'll know I'm a curly girl and I've been on the look out for good products to tame this mop of mine and keep it in order.

I read about their Mixed Greens conditioner with mixed feelings. On the one hand the claims sounded promising and the testimonies from other customers sounded great. On the other hand I thought "Mixed greens....mixed GREENS? Urgh my hair is going to smell like a compost heap."
With some trepidation I ordered a 300ml bottle anyway (along with some other products but those are for other reviews....) and waited for it to arrive.

I've lost count of the amount of hair 'goodies' I have bought in the past which were cheaper. However usually they've been a waste of money and I've ended up being worse off as I worked my way through an array of products hoping that the next one will counter effect the last one I tried which turned my hair to straw - or varying degrees of straw - after a few washes or simply didn't work at all.
MOPs prices I think, are on par with salon products but work BETTER.
MOP also offer a reward scheme so you earn a point for every £10 you spend which gives you money off a future order whenever you choose to use these accumulated points.
Sorry, sorry - I digress. Let me talk to you about this conditioner eh?
First of all - the bottle.
It's quite a hard plastic bottle with a black flip top lid with a small hole to squeeze the conditioner out of. To be honest I don't like this lid. I just unscrew it and squeeze a good old blob onto my hands and then pop the lid back on. Simple. I also stand the bottle on it's head to allow the quite thick conditioner to travel to the bottom more easily and towards the 'end' of a bottle, the remainder of conditioner does come out quite well so no wastage to speak of.
The bottles are recyclable.
The conditioner does not smell like old cabbages I am very pleased to say. Major relief. It has a lovely fresh fragrance - but a very subtle one. You won't be clashing with your perfume anyway.
The conditioners consistency is quick thick. It spreads wonderfully through my very curly, tangle prone hair and - get this - I don't need to use that much! I said earlier I use a "good old blob" and let's face it with my hair I will never be able to get away with a 50p size. However with conditioners of the past, I have been using stupid amounts and the bottle would be gone in around 2 weeks or so. A bottle of this stuff (based on washing hair every other day) lasts me at least a month. At least.
Let me reiterate though - my hair *drinks* conditioner at a rate you would not believe. If you have shorter hair, or even longer but looser curls, or straight hair which is dry, you will get fantastic use from 300ml of this stuff. I believe you just won't need a lot.
I must say though, with what is now regular use of my Mixed Greens, my hair is in better condition and I myself have been able to cut back a bit on the amount I use. And that's no mean feat. I look forward to this trend continuing....
Anyhow, you massage through the hair from roots to ends and leave it for a minute or so. Actually I leave mine in for about 5 minutes. Then rinse with cool clear water.
My hair smells lovely afterwards and feels soft and the curls fall in pretty ringlets. I have to quickly move on to the next stage of my hair prep though as due to the 'make up' of my hair it soon dries out & tangles. But the Mixed Greens do their job in the shower that's for sure. The next stage of hair prep goes much easier these days and styling products are almost now a thing of the past for me. Which is unbelievable.
So......the price. Well I buy from MOP directly and it costs £9.49 for 300ml. I stock up on a few bits so I don't pay P & P. I believe you can get it a little cheaper from other online retailers but you've got P & P on top of that.
So do I like it? No. I bloomin' *love* it. I will not even entertain the idea of buying another conditioner whilst I am using this product. I'm hooked. Completely.
Do I recommend it? Too right I do.
Do they sell smaller sizes? Yes they do. If you are worried about splurging nearly a tenner on a bottle - then try their 50ml for £2.99.
Do they produce a 'matching' shampoo? Yes they do. Now perhaps I should review this separately but for now I will just say, I would recommend buying a small bottle of the shampoo to test it out as I wasn't ecstatic about it. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad stuff at all and one of my friends swears by it. But she has straight hair and I have to be very very careful about shampoo so....you can make your own mind up about that.
However - the conditioner. YES YES YES, thumbs up all the way. Love it, can't say just HOW much I love it. But yes I do love it. In fact if they sold even bigger bottles - like a litre size, I'd have one of those. No kidding.
So there you have it. Apart from the MOP leave in conditioner which I will review separately, this should be my last wash out conditioner review on Ciao. The hunt is over.
