Well I had seen a review on this kit in what hi fi and fell in love with the speakers purely on looks and others opinions. Big mistake, after saving the required £600 I bundled them into the car without a full demo from my local dealer, when I unpacked the sats I found a few badly finished edges and a lack of detailed set up instructions for the sub. Still full of excitement I continued with my quest and set the speakers round the room and wired them up to my amp. I spun a first disc with my heart racing for joy, then it dropped like a bomb. The speakers sounded like something pinched off a matsui mini system. I fiddled with the settings on my amp, then the array of controls on the back of the sub but to no avail, I contacted the supplier who said I needed to run the speakers in for about 36 hrs. 48 hrs later of continual running in and although there was a marked improvement I still found myself feeling that they lacked some detail. I have tried them in different positions and I am growing to warm to them. For movies and general tv viewing they are a marvel, clear and precise although the rears are a little too directional, but for music they are a big no no, my old £100 eltax liberty 3's made music exciting and vivid, the mauds are just there. So if you have a seperate set of speakers for music and movies then the mauds will bowl you over at the price, discreet and full of power they cannot fail to impress, but if they are for dual use with music as well, dont excpect to enjoy them, music sounds over bassed with a heavy hint of mid treble but no midrange and no zing.

For the price you paid, this set up does sound a little disappointing. I'd always believed Mordaunt Short to be a brand you can trust. I guess it always pays to audition anything to do with audio before you buy. Excellent op! Ciao for now - J
