BloodSweat & Tea
Working with the Scottish Ambulance Service, I have always had a keen interest in blogs about the ambulance service whether than be London Ambulance service or Scottish Ambulance Service. I stumbled across a Blog written by TomReynolds an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who works with the London Ambulance Service (LAS). Tom wrote fantastic blogs and always had you checking back for more updates until one day I went on to the site and seen a post ? Read my stories in a book? . I think back then you could pre-order the book. But I waited until the price came down and then ordered it.

Advantages: Fantastic insight into the London Ambulance Service, from personal experiences Disadvantages: Could have been longer?
"Blood, Sweat and Tea" is a pretty enticing title for any book, but seems very apt for this particular one. The book itself is a diary of events by an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) from the LAS (London Ambulance Service) who originally wrote it all in an ever popular 'web-blog' until it was published into this fine book.
I came across this title whilst christmas present buying for my partner last year, she's a medical student and has shown interest in the past in all forms of healthcare, she is also an avid reader so I thought I'd give it a shot. Turns out she loved it and so I felt compelled to also have a read. Which took me a day. That's not to say it's an easy read or a short book, but because it was so enjoyable to read and so hard to put down! The author, TomReynolds, was originally an A&E nurse and the 'story' begins by ...
Advantages: May find out things about the ambulance service you weren't aware of Disadvantages: as above
of the public. It is this reason why I wouldn't do the job, as I had planned to be a paramedic when I first joined the service, but a couple of times observing on the road, and the experiences I had with idiots who had nothing to do with the incident at all, put me off.
BloodSweat and Tea
-------------------------------
From the first entry on the first page, I find myself dreading to think what awaits him as the pages turn. The book reads like a diary of events. (the book is based on Tom's own WeBlog page, which proved very popular), although no exact dates are published of each small section, the actual happening are recent, in the last 5 years at the most. I know this as I recognise some of the subjects, such as new vehicles (and their yellow paint scheme) being introduced to the service.

Manufacturer's product description
The sequel to the bestselling memoir Blood, Sweat & Tea. Tom Reynolds is an ambulance worker. On any given day he can be attacked by strangers, sworn at by motorists, puked on, covered in blood and other much more unpleasant substances. He could help to deliver a baby in the morning and witness the last moments of a dying man in the afternoon. He deals with road accidents, knife attacks, domestic violence, drug overdoses, neglect and suffering. And you think you're having a bad day at work? Tom blogs about his experiences at the end of each shift. His Random Acts of Reality website has a huge following with over 30,000 visitors every day. He is an internet legend and a remarkable writer. His first book, Blood, Sweat & Tea came out of nowhere to be a surprise bestseller in 2006. Readers were stunned by the stories he had to tell and impressed by the sheer quality of his writing. Critics who sneer at blogs-to-books have never read this one. More Blood, More Sweat and Another Cup of Tea charts the past two years of Tom's life as an ambulance worker. He is tired, he is frustrated and he is more pissed off than ever but he still manages to capture the more moving, heartwarming and inspirational moments alongside the chaos. About the AuthorTom Reynolds began work for the NHS when he was 23 and specialised as an A&E nurse. He moved to the London Ambulance Service when he discovered that 'he wanted to 'torture the patients in A&E'. In his own words, this is 'not healthy'. He has kept his critically-acclaimed blog since 2003 and is frequently quoted in the national press.
