After purchasing an 8 month old rescue dog call Ruby (labrador/collie cross) we decided we should be responsible and take out pet insurance. After searching many websites we settled for More Than as this seemed to be the cheapest. I completed an online form and the company contacted me shortly after. The customer service was excellent (although they were trying to sell something so it would be). A few days later we reeceived the paperwork along with a blank claim form. Our cover cost £7.99 a month. Our excess was £70.
In July this year out dog got a very nasty cut on her back leg. We took her to the vets who advised an operation which cost just over £200. We paid upfront but we gave the form to our vets to complete and send off. About 10 days later we received a cheque minus the £70 excess.
My parents (who also have More Than Pet Insurance) recently bought a Labrador puppy who has developed a problem with his front leg. He needed Xrays which cost £400. They were then advised he needed an operation (although it was optional). My dad phoned More Than who were not at all helpful in advising what he could claim for. They took a chance and had the operation which cost £700, sent the claim form off and received a cheque for the full amount less the excess.
I have just had my renewal paperwork through and our cover has now gone up to £10.99 a month. Not sure if this is normal or because I have claimed but as I know they do pay out OK have decided to stop with them.
