I love my coffee, love it love it love it. By the way, did I mention I love coffee?
I've been through a fair few machines and I chose this one due to the price/performance/make at the time. When it worked it did give pretty nice coffee, and the seperate milk jug and heater, which kept the milky goodness warm was a bonus.
Where it went wrong, the frother was just plain naff, did they even try to use it? It only works properly when the jug is full with milk else it doesnt reach or skims the top of the milk. Boy its great when it does that, you get a lovely shower in milk, just like a modern day cleopatra... bonus Morphy Richards!
Apart from that I was pretty happy, untill after a month it broke. Did the non-so-sturdy build quality fall apart? Or in a milk splattering outrage it went for a flying lesson? Nope, the bloody heating element broke.
It seems to me (I did a little testing) that if the hotplate was left on in order to keep the coffee warm, the heating element also stayed on. But, naturally the water was all gone as it had been used to make the coffee. So, after a month it was all burnt out. What donut came up with that design?
Anyway, it went straight back and I got my next make... which also broke. I've had three so far, all different makes and models and all of them broke after a couple of months. Go figure.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
I have the "Espresso/Cappucino" version of this machine. Whilst I find it does work, I'm not overly impressed with the Milk Frother either. It froths the milk without a problem, when using smaller amounts, I find holding the jug at an angle helps, what I don't like about it is the milk ALWAYS seems to be burnt on the bottom of the jug and can be difficult to clean off. Advantages: Does all types of coffee for a small price compared to other combination coffee makers. Disadvantages: Water reservoir on filter coffee maker not very accessible.
Advantages: Has everything you need, makes excellent coffee and is affordable to buy. Disadvantages: The water reservoir on the filter coffee is at an unconvenient position.
