When our last coffee machine finally gave up from over use, we got this one. As my husband only drinks coffee having a machine was a must in our house.
We chose the cafe rio as we wanted to have a choice of coffee we normally use the filtered coffee every day but like to have an espresso or cappuccino as a treat or when friends come round.
There is one water tank for the filter side and one for the espresso side both are filled from the top of the machine and are easy to get to provided there is space above the machine to fully lift the lid.
On the filter side once the lid is up you have access to the water tank and also where the coffee is to go to be filtered, on the lid is also a control for the strenght of the coffee. This basically works by the rate the water passes through the coffee. This can make upto 10 cups of coffee.
The espresso side has a pressure system and makes upto 6 cups this also has a control for the strenght.
To make the cappuccino there is a jug with a heating plate like for the filter coffee to be kept warm, between the two coffee jugs. I find it best to put the milk on to warm, then fill the tank with water and make to coffee to give it time to warm and once warm, you then froth the milk with the little electic wisk which is above the milk jug. Then just add to the espresso coffee in your cup.
My first thought was that it looked abit plasticity. But at less that half the price we paid for the last one we decided to give it a try. We got this item fron ebay for £38 as new. This machine can be got from most electrically shops or online usual price of about £48 .
I find this easy to use as I am use to having had a coffee machine before. I find it best to use filtered water to help stop the build up of limescale on the heating elements to prolong the life of the coffee machine.
The only difficult part to clean is the milk whisk, this does un screw ,but is best cleaned straight after use as milk is hard to get out once cold.
The machine is quite large being 16 inches long 12 inches deep and 12 inches high. If you drink alot of coffee I would definitely get this. But if you only have the odd cup once in awhile something smaller might be better.
