This is the first steam iron that I have bought. My last iron was heavy and cumbersome and after an hour of ironing my back would be in bits. I was also fed up with the constant refilling and subsequent mess that this caused.

The iron is pretty basic - just select your temperature and click the button on the top of the handle to indicate whether you want steam on or off. This is fine for me and I must admit that ironing is quicker and easier on the back and shoulders, due to the iron being much lighter.

Importantly the iron responds to temperature change quickly and my clothes are very well ironed - this is down to the iron being easier to manoevre and lots of steam being generated. My last iron wouldn't have last 20 minutes without needing to be refilled, the Morphy Richards lasts me for at least an hour.

With the water tank (which can't be detatched) the iron isn't particularly easy to store, I've kept the original box and return the iron to that after each use but with the box being cardboard I'm not sure that this offers a longterm solution.

I've also had a bit of a problem placing the iron and tank on my ironing board. It doesn't feel all that secure so I think that at some point I'll need to get a wider board to accommodate the size of the tank.

Overall, this is a good buy for an entry level steam generator iron. I'd certainly buy a Morphy Richards again and I certainly wouldn't go back to a standard iron again.
